ssbutterfly Posted February 8, 2009 at 08:42 AM Posted February 8, 2009 at 08:42 AM (edited) Alrighty. I just got home from the concert. Celine was SO on tonight! I have never seen her that enthusiastic and this was my 10th concert from this tour. She was interacting with the audience so much more than she does in with the normal stage setup. She was pointing, waving, winking etc. She said "I love you too" at least 3 times when people yelled to her. She was cracking jokes like crazy! When she talked about asking her mom to go on tour with her she said "I went over to my mom's place, because you know we're neighbors. I took my kayak. We went to feed the ducks and have a chat." (something roughly like that) I think there were only about 3 of us that got the kayak comment. She didn't accept any gifts. No hugs Most of the crowd was crap. They were way less enthusiastic then most of the shows I have been to and she seemed 3 times as touched by the welcome she got. It makes me wonder what kind of reception she expected to get. Almost everyone did stand up for LCMM when she asked. After LCMM she said "Stay up". Everybody did. Normally she would be running off stage after LCMM so she wouldn't say that. She didn't wear the white outfit so she didn't change then. She went right from LCMM to RDMH. That was kinda cool because people didn't loose the enthusiasm after LCMM. She also did quite a lot of riffs and different inflections with her voice on lots of songs. That was a treat to hear! The setlist was the same as it usually is. This Caesars was just like Vegas with their camera policy. They were actually throwing people out who were caught taking pics. I was front row and had 3 security dudes in front of me so I didn't risk taking pics. I payed way too much to be there to get thrown out for pic taking. Maybe there are some braver souls out there who did get some. Deborah and I got to see her get out of her car outside the venue. They actually had to stop the cars in the road and let her out! It was weird. The security dudes wouldn't let us near her. It was a very unique, intimate, and special concert. Oh, I almost forgot. Once when she was on my side of the stage, she was making eye contact with me and she pointed to me and waved and made the "hey, i know you" face, lol. I was very surprised that she waved first! Maybe I'm flattering myself to think that she recognized me but I only waved once she did. Probably because I was the only one around me who actually was singing along. She was probably like "hey, there is somebody here who loves me". Ok, I've had my moment, lol. Time for bed. Edited February 8, 2009 at 08:56 AM by ssbutterfly Quote
Vassykka Posted February 8, 2009 at 08:46 AM Posted February 8, 2009 at 08:46 AM REVIEW Celine Dion brought the world to Windsor's doorstep Saturday. Her sold-out appearance at the Caesars Windsor Colosseum comes on the heels of her world tour in support of the 2007 album, Taking Chances. A brief video before Dion stepped on stage showed film of her in such places as Macau, Dubai, Sydney, Paris and Los Angeles. At the end of the film, the name of Windsor flashed on the screen to the cheers of the audience. Dion is perhaps the biggest contemporary star ever to perform in Windsor. Jim Carrey used to do a standup here before he made it in L.A., and the old Elmwood Casino attracted the likes of Sammy Davis Jr. Tony Bennett, Paul Anka, and Anne Murray have been here, too. Jay Leno and Chris Rock, two of Hollywood's biggest names in comedy, have preceded Dion to the Colosseum. But other than Pierre Elliott Trudeau, a fellow French-Canadian, at the height of Trudeaumania, nobody has caused this kind of a sensation in the Rose City. And, darn it, if she didn't seem just a little touched by the reception. The Colosseum is not the warmest of venues. To begin with, it's cavernous and it lacks character. Then there are those hundreds of patrons who have tickets from all the money they gamble in the casino. A lot of other acts — Donna Summer, Reba McEntire, and Gretchen Wilson, to name a few — have been greeted by downright apathy. Not so Dion. Right from the opening number, I Drove All Night, she held the 5,000 in attendance in the palm of her hand. They even stood when encouraged by the star to do so, and clapped along. It was probably one of her smallest audiences, in fact, since she left her five-year gig at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. She joked about that, saying she was experiencing deja vu over the name Caesars. A polished and dynamic performer, Dion is worth all the hype and bloated ticket prices. Backed by a solid six-piece band, three singers and eight dancers, Dion paced herself through a 110-minute show that hit all the right notes for the audience. The song selections were drawn from her career catalogue — The Power of Love, My Heart Will Go On, I'm Your Angel, Because You Loved Me, I'm Alive, and It's All Coming Back to Me Now, to name a few. She even sang one of her top French-language songs, Pour que tu m'aimes encore. A newer song, Linda Perry's My Love, from the Taking Chances album, found Dion explaining how some songs touch her to the core. She then displayed an impressive emotional range to match her legendary vocal one. While a soul set that included James Brown's It's a Man's Man's Man's World was energetic in its delivery, thanks to the powerful musical accompaniment and the dancers, Dion is no R&B shouter. She's a belter, a singer cut from cloth of her idol, Barbra Streisand. Her vocal style is better suited to the operatic duet with Andrea Bocelli, The Prayer, which was performed with a virtually real Bocelli on a video screen. She can also send a song like Eric Carmen's All By Myself, already pretty melodramatic, into the upper atmosphere. Caesars Windsor spokesperson Holly Ward said Saturday Dion took a brief break from her stadium tour to appear in Windsor. Her close affiliation with the Caesars chain is likely the reason. Dion's concert "is a true indication of the kind of attraction our venue and especially the Caesars brand is having in the entertainment world," said Ward. In the highly competitive casino business in Windsor and Detroit, Caesars Windsor has set itself apart by adding the Colosseum and its power-packed lineup so far. When Leno performer there on New Year's Eve, Ward said, there were 30,000 visitors to the casino and hotel. "We know that many of those visitors were new to the property," Ward said. © Copyright © The Windsor Star Quote

nickyrenaud Posted February 8, 2009 at 05:19 PM Posted February 8, 2009 at 05:19 PM With this being an end-stage show tonight I wonder if "Fade Away" will get cut and "Can't Fight The Feelin'" will take its place. Hmmmmmm...Also, is Windsor a primarily English or French-speaking town? I'm hoping that "Je ne vous oublie pas" or "Je lui dirai" will make it into the tour at least once before the tour ends. They are, after all, mentioned in the tourbook. Have a blast tonight, guys! - Joe That won't happen, CFTF has been permanantly cut. She has performed FA on an end-stage a few times now.. Windsor is English speaking, it's in Ontario ahh windsor is an english town...but there are a whole lot of french living here in windsor ..the town's of tecumseh, lasalle , belleriver, rivercanard..all with many french speaking family's...i for one know there were quite a few francophones there last night..awesome show...she was gorgeous as usual...i recognized Nick her body guard earlier in the evening long before the show started...he was alone in the casino..and was quite surprised i knew who he was..he walked and talked with me for a few minutes..really super nice guy...huge hands ...i thought i would need to hands to shake his hand when he offered it..i also went to the airport here in the city when she flew in...not many aboard the plane...just a quick exit from the plane to car and off they went i sure hope they have good fortune in they're invetro later this month!! would love to an addition to that beautiful family Quote

minniemare5 Posted February 8, 2009 at 07:53 PM Posted February 8, 2009 at 07:53 PM I survived Windsor!!!! I could not believe how anal the venue was!!!! I tried bringing a frog I got for Celine that sings "Fever" and its belly lights up, and I get in there and they asked me if it was a gift for Celine and of course I am dumb and say yes. Then they tell me I can't bring it in and they take me this table where supposedly her gifts are going to be left for her. Then they wouldn't let us bring water in! Or take pictures or have our cell phone out! I was in the 6th row and there were so many good photo opportunities but I thought I'd get shot or thrown out if I took a picture. I did manage to tape record it on my ipod. The audience was awful!!!!! There were a few groups of people shouting, "I love you Celine", but other than that it was as if we were at a funeral or church. I stood up during IDAN and the lady behind me shouted "That's enough..sit down!" she told me to sit down twice. I turned around and told her that "This is a concert and she should stand up if she couldn't see." I wanted to go up during My Love to give her one of Becca's frogs (Thanks again Becca) but I was too scared. I was surprised the crowd actually listened to Celine when she said to stand during LCMM and RDMH. She did not sing Fade Away and she went from the black out with silver vest immediately into the gold dress for It's a Mans Mans World. No white outfit at all and no break in between LCMM and RDMH. The stage was tiny so no moving side walks. At the end of MHWGO I went up to the stage to try and give her the frog and a letter and she totally saw me and looked right at me and smiled but there was a group of people thrusting "For Keeps" and a white piece of paper trying to get autographs. So Celine turned away and left. I managed to give the frog and letter to Yves who nicely took it and said he'd give it to Celine. This is my last Celine concert until 2010 and I just wish the crowd and venue was a bit more enthusiastic. Like Becca said we tried waiting for her at the venue and we got really close and were surprised she came right out of the car, but there were 10 security guards and she immediately was whisked inside. I don't think she saw us. I'll have to say is I would never go to Casino Windsor again. Celine did sound very good as always and she did look in my direction a few times, I just wish it wasn't such a tense experience thanks to people ready to keel around me with their motorized scooters. She did mention Vegas and having "deja vu" by being in Windsor, but nothing about Vegas 2010. She talked a lot Thanks Thomas for the pictures Wish I could have taken my own for you guys. Screw Casino Windsor!!!! Long Live Celine!!!!!!!!!!! I wish I could afford to go to Omaha for the grand finale -Deborah Quote
