I am a teacher. In this summer vacation I wanted to go in Chicago to see Celine. She canceled the November show for December, 16. I said that was the perfect chance for me to go and see her. So I went to the US embassy to ask for a tourist visa for 3 weeks. I have friends in Chicago and they invited me there. It would have been the perfect vacation for me. Meet my friends and see Celine. But my visa was refused without explanation. Maybe I could get the visa if Celine would have been invited me. I lived and worked as a teacher in the US for 3 years. I came back in Europe this summer.

I am very angry, disappointed and sad at the same time because I can not go in Chicago in my vacation and see Celine.

All I can do now is to hope that she will come back again in Europe.

I saw Celine in Las Vegas 2 years ago, that was my Christmas present for me.

I will always regret I can not see Celine performing in this Taking Chances World Tour.

That was your Xmas present for you for the emission from behind?

I'm sorry to hear your story! I bet you'll be able to see her again.

Indeed it is sad you aren't able to see Céline live in concert. And indeed the US is acting strange these days. It is even so that visitors to the us from Holland needs to fill in a visa request (the formar green piece of paper) 72 hours before your flight so the US gov. probb knows who is coming in.. But the strange fact is they seal of the "front" door but let the back door wide open.. it's not that I'm up to no good, but if I want to do any harm.... what if Europe would do the same with all the US ppl coming in to europe as they do to us......

Elle est mon idéal, La plus grande étoile

Will be going to Celine march 2 and 5 2016 and June 20 and 21 2016

I'm so sorry about what happened to you. I don't know why the US is so touchy with this. Do they not want money for tourism?

Well, that was your big mistake right there: you showed them an invitation. I'm speaking from experience, I went through all this visa getting thing too. They think you want to go there to work (illegitimate). When I got my visa, I had no invitation, no property, nothing, I was the perfect candidate to stay there :giggle: I just showed them my tickets to A New Day, my account balance, my hotel reservations and my job-related paper (contracts and stuff). But I think the most important aspect was that I had another visa in my passport, from Italy (cause I went there before we entered the EU). And don't ever tell them you have friends that live there, they'll just think you'll have help to stay in their country. It's silly, but that's how it works. The tourist visa is given for 10 years. I think you can try again soon (I don't know when the Chicago concert is). Try again, without the invitation and without mentioning any friends you have there, just convince them you're only going there to see Celine. They bought it from me :)

It wasn't because of the invitation. That is a good thing.

It was because you only recently arrived back from the US. They are assuming that you are planning to immigrate.

You have to be home for 6 months before you can apply for another visa.

It all depends mostly on what visa you were on for those 3 years.

I applied for my 10 visa when I first went to see Celine last year January. I had tickets to the show, hotel reservations, family invites for Cleveland, Ohio and a wedding invite for my best friends wedding in California.

I got mine on the spot and I wasn't even in my home country.

What visa were you on and what date did you leave the US?

Maybe there is still hope.

I have extensive experience with stupid visas so PM me if you want advice.

Maybe you can give it a try for next February, you will be more then 6 months in Europe by then!

Or you can go to Quebec or Montréal next February, I think it's lot easier to get into Canada then getting in the US.

The US has strict anti-terrorism rules, everybody whose name is on the terrorism list are not allowed to go into the US and everybody who has a criminal past (even traffic offences like drunk driving!) can be rejected to go into the US for several months/years.

If you have worked in the US you need to renew your working licence (via the US embassy) to get a new visa.

Hope you can work it out before next February!

In Romania, it is about invitations too. On the other hand, I think it depends a lot on the person that does the interview, from the Embassy. Like I said, I was the perfect person not to grant a visa to, so I think I really talked my way to get it. Part of it, anyway. The visa thing is really getting annoying. Most people (at least from Romania) that want to go work outside the country wouldn't even have money for the plane. That's why they mostly go to Italy or Spain, cause they can take a bus there. They said they'll reconsider thing from 2009. I really hope they do.

I'm very sorry to hear that... This visa stuff is so annoying isn't it?

It depends on a lot of things people have mentioned here, but I guess it also depends on who's doing your interview. It happens a lot here too. If the interviewer doesn't like you for any reason he/she just refuses it...

Well, you can try again some time later, but I wouldn't do it right now you know. They would probably think you're insisting too much... :ermm: But well, I think Céline is coming back to Europe eventually, and you'll have other chances to see her. An who knows if not an even better and perfect chance? :msn-wink:

Aww, I'm sorry. :( I know it's hard not to be able to see her on this tour, but try to focus on the fact that you have seen her in Las Vegas! And I'm sure you will see her again! :)

My interviewer just told me, "Who can say no to Celine Dion", and gave me one year VISA. It really depends on the interviewer.

To bad about the visa... I thought that the whole EU was included in the visa waiver program but unfortunately it seems that Romania is indeed not included and that you have to apply for a visa...

When included in the VWP you can travel without a visa as many as you like as long as you are not staying for more than 90 days.

Is there not a right of appeal against this decision?

Hey go to Mexico, tomorrow is the last concert there or you can go to the concert in Canada this February. You still have some choices outside the US. Don't let yourself bring down because of that if you really want to see Celine you will..... Good luck and keep us posted about your decision.

You should find out about that. In my country (Costa Rica) if the US embassy denies your visa you have to wait at least 6 months to apply for it again.

Sorry to hear about that...I can fully understand your feeling. i intended to go to LV in 2007 but eventually gave up because i concerned about the visa thing...I'm praying that I can get one next year!
