DVDs as low as $1.99, laptop computers for under $100, and so on. Is anybody here going to brave the crowds or do any online Black Friday shopping? I've already purchased two pre-Black Friday items on sale via Amazon.com. It's the day when retailers do insane price drops on items such as DVDs, CDs, televisions, computers, speakers, etc. Prices can be slashed to almost 90% off the retail value depending what the item is. These sales don't last very long, though. A lot of them have a certain time limit on them (ex. 5:00 AM - 11:30 AM). Also, some stores open nearly 3-5 hours earlier than normal just to handle the rushes. There are people already sleeping in sleeping bags outside of a Best Buy in San Francisco waiting for their doors to open tomorrow morning at a very early 5:00 AM. - Joe Quote

Though I don't think it's a very long tradition and I don't know how many people actually do follow the "rule". But it's somehow a little bizarre that it is the "buy stuff -day" in other countries and "don't buy" in others.. What's the point? I just got back. I live in a fairly large city in so Cal and I went to two Best Buys. The first was around 2am and there was probably two hundred people, then we went to Fry's Electronics and there was probably three hundred, then one more Best Buy and that was the shortest but it was still around the building. I hate it, I really wanted this one laptop at Best Buy but they only had fifteen, so I am screwed. Quote

It just further proves that no matter how humans try to distance themselves from being classified as animals we truly are just that. Actions like the above stated demonstrates this perfectly. I guess you can get some really good bargains but I really don't think getting up early, waiting in line for hours, and maybe saving a little bit of money sounds like fun but that's just ME. When I saw the news showing people actually camping out in tents in front of a Best Buy I knew that the world must be ending soon. And then there's the worker at Walmart that got trampled and two people got shot at some big toy store. It just seems crazy to me. Quote
