Céline's monstrous failure is her own fault

The fact that the "average" person (and so-called specialists who think mediocrity is "genius") do not like Céline just proves my favorite quote from Albert Einstein:

"Great Spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds."

I deal with it everyday in this little town. LOL

"Her impact as we know it is being ignored "

Interesting, I think a wee little fact escapes your notice. Rolling Stones article and it's "contributers" will long be forgotten about in about 15 minutes; whilst Celine has been making music for over 25 years now and has garned respect from the most notable in all areas of the world.

I rest my case.

Hehe. I'll send it to TC and request Seduces Me gets released and see if the video makes it onto MTV

Hahah! I'm sure Sony would think it's the perfect time to release Seduces Me as a single! This idea can't lose!

Many of those so-called music experts are jealous of Celine's huge success the world over!

Don't forget that lots of these "experts" also vote for Grammy winners... Not necessarily an objective music reference if you ask me!

As the best selling female singer in the world, it just doesn't make any sense that Celine wouldn't be in the Top 100 if Whitney, Mariah and Christina are in there. :o

Well, though I think everyone can notice at this stage that Céline has a big lack of interest in her own career and she rarely talks about her music, business etc (some talking about her songs and technical aspects of her albums would be nice from time to time  ), the question is:

WHO CARES? :thumbsup2:

I'm starting to assume that Céline has taken that path of not focusing nor talking about her music anymore, and I think we will have to deal with that better sooner than later -_-

So Rolling Stones gave their opinion of the 100 best singers....does that mean the rest of us have to agree??? I don't give a rat's @$$ what they say. Celine is a fantastic singer who happens to be more concerned with her family these days than her numbers on any charts. If every parent was like Celine, my job would be a lot easier. I teach fifth grade, and every day I see the results of parental neglect. You can constantly complain about Celine's "failures" or you can appreciate the fact that she actually has her priorities straight. Her family comes first!!! If you prefer someone who puts her career first, listen to Madonna ~ if she made this wonderful Rolling Stone's list, then they were picking "performers", because she just has shock value ~ her voice is something completely overrated! Celine doesn't need to make some ridiculous list to be #1 to her fans!

it's disgusting to include aguilera yet not celine

then again they excluded barbra.

then again it's rolling stone

then again it's just a list

then again these lists can never please everyone

BUT GAH!!!! still upset :(

edit: actually aretha usually almost always ends up on the top of these lists. at least for the women

I predict it will take another 10-20 years before the hipsters grow some tiny amount of respect for celine due to her being some oldie artist then and it'll be a novelty to like the cheeze when it's so old :S

No No No Agularia has a great voice as do Mariah and Whitney But Celine's voice is the most Pure of them all.

I love christina's voice. don't get me wrong.

but these "greatest lists" always put into consideration the legacy of an artists' career, their impact, etc. christina just barely closed in on her first decade. she's a child compared to celine. it's like comparing a veteran to a novice.

I'm not saying christina technically doesn't belong on there..just to have her there and yet exclude celine makes celine's exclusion for insulting imo

Celine herself says that she doesn't have to prove anything to anybody anymore. She does it because she wants to and loves what she does. She just wants to have a good time. That's the most important part of life. To be happy within yourself. And don't we just love her for it? :)

Thats True, Celine doesnt care that much she wont lose sleep over that fact BUT deep down inside Celine wants many things, Im 100% CERTAIN that Celine wants a few more Grammies, some more #1 Hits, and to take the world by storm with another MHWGO, she can say it over and over again that she dont care about those things BUT she DOES, and she should thats what I love about HER, she can be a mommy and sucessful siger at the same time. Believe me Celine Wants to feel the sucess she felt of the 90s again/ maybe NOT the stress of the 90s but for sure the Success!!

DO U REALLY THINK CELINE IS STRESSING THE FACT SHE ISNT ON THAT LIST ??!! HAHA !!! FUNNY !! SHE HAS NOTHING TO PROVE !! HISTORY SPEAKS FOR ITSELF !! SHE CAN WIPE HER BEHIND W/ THAT LIST !! LMAO !! :msn-tongue: :sofunny:

Well, they don't have the truth too.. Rolling Stone Magazine didn't create music and it's owned by humans being..

For me, Barbra Streisand is way better than a lot of persons on that list, so i don't think it means anything..

Celine obviously isnt COOL enough for Rolling Stones magezine!!!! To of ignored her in that list is total Horse s***, its not about record sales, promotion or Celine giving a s***, Its about her VOICE and she belongs very HIGH up on that list, Bias journalists as someone earlier mentioned are not very professional if they are printing lists with their own opinions

I doubt it VERY much that music specialists dont think Celine is one of the best singers of all time. That makes ZERO sense. A magezine I certainly will never take any notice of again, cause there opinions are up their asses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It really is true, what you say about her not being cool enough. I have a friend who works for Rolling Stone and that is what she told me when I asked her about this-Celine just doesn't fit with what that magazine is all about.

And apparently others noticed that Celine was left off the list too...lol

I agree 100% with that! :thumbsup2:

At this point of her life the success Céline cares about the most is the one she's having right now IMO, performing and feeling the love of her fans from and all around the world(career wise) and being able to do things she loves that she can share also with people she loves around her in her private life (family first, musicians, friends). Plus Céline is really not the type of person to look back on what she has accomplish, she looks ahead and goes forward always. Like she said recently at the ADISQ, the day she'll stop singing then she's going to look back at her carreer and reflect on the road and things she's done..."for the first time probably" she said.

Anyway future will tell... because history is made without any magazine's opinion that's for sure.

I for one don't care about THIS list or ANY list magazine will make.

I personally feel that this list is an insult.

Who cares if she doesn't make it into Rolling Stone? She has a huge fan base and her music is better than ever now that she puts her focus on being a mother, wife, and daughter rather than an artist. I say more power to her for being able to be in the music industry and keep her priorities straight and her feet on solid ground!

Yes, the lack of Barbra Streisand, Judy Garland (HELLO!?), and Celine Dion make no sense. To me, the better singer that DID make the list is Karen Carpenter who had a gorgeous, unique vocal style.

The list means nothing. Just like a tree house club, jealous of those who have made something of themselves.

Rolling Stone Taking Chances review: 1 star out of 5

Celine Dion calling her new album Taking Chances? That's like a Zac Efron musical called Making Cops s*** Their Pants, or a Lil Wayne mix tape titled Bumming Bus Fare From My Mom. Celine's shtick is as safe a bet as there is in the music biz, coming a mere six months after her last album, the Canadian chart-topper D'Elles. Alas, her cat-strangling whine is still a remarkably ugly sound, no matter what she's singing. The days are gone when she had her pick of material, ruining perfectly nice pop-trash ballads from Diane Warren or Jim Steinman — no songs here by either of them, and Linda Perry's "New Dawn" is a Nineties leftover. She interprets Ne-Yo ("I Got Nothin' Left") and the Dream ("Skies of L.A.") with awful results. She goes back to Eighties schlockmeister Aldo Nova for "Can't Fight This Feelin'," which is unfortunately not an REO Speedwagon cover. But that's nothing compared to Dion shrieking the ten millionth version of Heart's "Alone" (mad pitchy, dog!), produced by ex-Evanescence guitarist Ben Moody — Amy Lee, meet the fugliest bullet you ever dodged.

Rolling Stone A new Day Has Come review: 2 stars out of 5

No matter how awful the new Celine Dion album sounds, you have to admit: It took real artistic integrity not to do a September 11th song. For that alone, C-Boogie earns both of her stars. The grande dame of global schlock pop, never previously noted for her discretion, has returned after a brief hiatus from the music biz, a vacation we all enjoyed as much as she did. For A New Day Has Come, she assembles a team of songwriters that will astound any connoisseur of Eighties pop trash: Here's Aldo Nova, there's Corey Hart, can't forget Mutt Lange and, holy Christ, it's Charlie Dore, who sang "Pilot of the Airwaves" in 1980! Lange contributes "Goodbye's (The Saddest Word)," sure to inspire many hours of dull debate with Bernie Taupin. Dion's voice is still just furniture polish -- she doesn't have the pipes for material defined by Etta James ("At Last") or Nat "King" Cole ("Nature Boy"). But give her credit for knowing where to draw the line.

I will never go by a list that is given by a magazine that gives Celine reviews like this

'Cat strangling wine' Thats Ridiculous . There is a reason that Celine is the biggest selling female artist!!!!

Are we all tone deaf according to rolling stone?? They make me mad

this list is just plain stupid. seeing Mariah and Whitney in ANY LIST OF GREATEST VOICES gives me creeps. (unless they released it during the early 90's, why not). i adore them, but come on let's get real!

How can it be Celine's fault that she's absent from the list? It's Rolling Stone's fault! LMAO

It may not be your usual editor's list but to say that the staff had absolutely no control as to whose names should appear is pure hogwash. They could have easily invited an industry figure to write a complimentary piece on Celine but EVEN if the magazine's survival depended on such action, they wouldn't even consider it. Why? Bec. their #1 rule is that no one should say anything positive about Celine on their magazine that supposedly celebrates "impeccable taste" in music. Why do you think she wasn't even mentioned as among those whom Whitney Houston influenced? Bec. that could be construed as giving Celine some credit.

At the end of the day, does it really matter what RS thinks of her? Name another singer who enjoys the admiration of George Martin and Rick Rubin. Of Michael Jackson and Prince. Of Carole King and the Bee Gees. Of the mad genius Phil Spector who came out of a lengthy seclusion to collaborate with her on revolutionary tracks (layer upon layer of backing tracks supplied by dozens of musicians and a 60-piece orchestra + Celine's voice at its peak = the ultimate musical apocalypse).

You are so right. They are better than most singers on that list. It's just ridiculous, some rock and roll singers have no voice are on the list, but Barbra Streisand, Judy Garland, Karen Carpenter and Celine are not. It only proved once again how stupid The Rolling Stone magazine is.

Even being COMPLETELY OBJECTIVE, the fact that Celine Dion is not on this list makes its credibility..... ZERO. So they are telling us (looking us straight in our eyes) that Rod Steward and Mary J Blige are better singers than Celine Dion??????????? And they expect me to believe it!!!!!!!!!! I don't even know why you all take it seriously. It's Rolling Stones magazine!!!!!!!!!!!! David Foster said that his absolute favorite singer is Celine Dion, George Martin said nice things about her as well and go on youtube and look for her studio recording of "I knew I loved you" and listen to what Quincy Jones said about her. He said "Celine's voice is an instrument....(just go and listen to it)", don't forget Carole King, Randy Jackson, and a bunch of artists that say Celine Dion's voice is flawless. Now those are the people I call music specialists. It doesn't matter if you like her style, her voice is undeniably good.

One thing I don't understand though is those reviews. Constructive criticism is good and reviews are sometimes necessary but just by reading the Rolling Stones reviews about Celine Dion, you can immediately tell it is a subjective review made by someone who personally hates her. It is intentionally bitchy. My one question is this "Who are the Rolling Stones to tell me what singer I should like and listen to anyway?????"

Barbara Streisand, Karen Carpenter and Linda Ronstadt are other talented singers not on this list. Biased and subjective much?????????????
