I have some objections to this album.

 

Such a compilation was already late, it should have been released in early 2000s, around Celine’s hiatus, because "All the Way... A Decade of Song" and "Collector's Series Volume 1" were not truly compilation albums and Celine's career highly deserved such a big compilation.

 

First of all, I am against the single-disc edition. Celine's career can't be sum up to one disc and 17-18 songs.

 

Besides, the chosen songs are mostly great, but the album overall has some flaws:

 

My biggest disappointment is the inclusion of no songs from "Unison", which is among my favorites, in Europe. The U.S. & Asia editions saw 'Where Does My Heart Beat Now?', but come on, where are ‘(If There Was) Any Other Way’, ‘Unison’, ‘The Last to Know’, and especially my favorite ‘Have a Heart’?

 

Besides, the inclusion of ‘Pour Que Tu M’aimes Encore’ is completely unnecessary. OK, it was a big hit, but this is an English language hits album. Was ‘My Heart Will Go On’ included in "On Ne Change Pas", though it was MUCH bigger than this song? Especially when thinking that no songs from “Unison” was included, the inclusion of this song really bothers me. If they wanted to have the song so much on the album, the English version of it, ‘If That’s What It Takes’ would have been included instead. This is not “Collector’s Series”, this is a new compilation and completely in English.

 

Weren’t there really space for the complete, inedit versions of ‘It’s All Coming Back to Me Now’ and ‘To Love You More’? The cut versions of both songs had appeared on "All the Way" album, so why ignoring how beauty they are in their original forms?

 

Instead of ‘River Deep, Mountain High’, which was never really released as a single, the songs released as singles could have been included. To name some: ‘If You Asked Me to’, ‘Treat Her like a Lady’, ‘I Want You to Need Me’, ‘When I Fall in Love’ and even ‘You Shook Me All Night Long’ with Anastacia, as the first appearance on a Celine album, it would be perfect.

 

Don’t get me wrong, I love this album and as I already said, it should already have been released much earlier. But with the points I mentioned above, it would have been as perfect as I think it deserves. At least in my opinion.

Was ‘My Heart Will Go On’ included in "On Ne Change Pas", though it was MUCH bigger than this song? Especially when thinking that no songs from “Unison” was included, the inclusion of this song really bothers me. If they wanted to have the song so much on the album, the English version of it, ‘If That’s What It Takes’ would have been included instead. This is not “Collector’s Series”, this is a new compilation and completely in English.

 

Weren’t there really space for the complete, inedit versions of ‘It’s All Coming Back to Me Now’ and ‘To Love You More’? The cut versions of both songs had appeared on "All the Way" album, so why ignoring how beauty they are in their original forms?

 

Instead of ‘River Deep, Mountain High’, which was never really released as a single, the songs released as singles could have been included. To name some: ‘If You Asked Me to’, ‘Treat Her like a Lady’, ‘I Want You to Need Me’, ‘When I Fall in Love’ and even ‘You Shook Me All Night Long’ with Anastacia, as the first appearance on a Celine album, it would be perfect.

 

Don’t get me wrong, I love this album and as I already said, it should already have been released much earlier. But with the points I mentioned above, it would have been as perfect as I think it deserves. At least in my opinion.

 

I totally agree with you! if you look closely, you'll see that most songs were performed on the tour, or during AND! this album was just a quick way to make more money! instead of promotion an amazing album; Taking Chances, they released another incomplete compilation. Alone, You and I, One Heart, Eyes on me, HYEBIL, SM (not even a single like RDMH DWMF, TP!) were never hits! WDMHBN and IYAMT were... the version of IACBTMN is just horrible... they should have given the radio edit of Goodbye's instead... most songs were on TCV1 anyway! the cd is wrong in many aspects and I really don't like the fact that the cd covers are in random order!

well duh! that's cos she IS céline dion and it has some of her big songs on it! but that doesn't mean the compilation/ the choice of songs is good

 

TC didn't sale to its potential due to disatereus single choices (and the canceling of singles like TC in the UK) and the lack of good videos (and promotion during the tour! like; she was almost a week in the Netherlands, would it have killed her to go to 1 or 2 shows?? )

Mmm, I disagree with you at that point.

 

A good compilation must include singles. Surely more space should have been given to the hit ones such as 'If You Asked me to', 'Where Does My Heart Beat Now?', '(If There Was) Any Other Way', 'The Last to Know' and maybe 'Nothing Broken but My Heart'; but those with less impact, such as the ones you counted should not be left out, either. This is a career spanning compilation in the end; so I am happy to see those songs on the album. Except for 'Seduces Me', I agree with you on that it shouldn't have been given place on this compilation. It was not even a single. Thank you for reminding me of that.

 

I am also happy to have 'Dance with My Father'. When a song of an artist I like appears on his/her album for the first time, because it originally appeared on another album such as a soundtrack or a tribute album, I see it as a gain. In the end it's added to my archives and I am not against that. I wish my version of "My Love: The Ultimate Essential Collection" had included 'Let Your Heart Decide' and 'I Knew I Loved You' as well, as bonus tracks. Let's hope someday she will release a b-sides/unreleased/rarities album and include all of these. Mmm, maybe a "Collector's Series Volume 2"??
