Jennifer Posted October 24, 2008 at 08:46 AM Posted October 24, 2008 at 08:46 AM I've run a jewelry business on the side for a while - called 27thAvenue. However, I have recently refined my style and am launching a new website soon. I worry that "27thAvenue" isn't the easiest to remember. Also, while I do like the name, the .com for that brand name is taken (and I'd prefer to have a memorable URL). So, I am exploring my options for new names. If anyone has any suggestions, I'd really appreciate them! I prefer names that are more abstract - like 27thAvenue - where it doesn't really say, "Jen's Jewelry." It doesn't have to relate to jewelry in any way. In fact, my favorite ideas are very abstract. I am very open to hearing ideas that are Celine-related (subtly, of course... like a portion of a song lyric, etc.). While my jewelry isn't related to her in any way (aside from the occassional inspiration), I love the idea of a subtle ode to Celine that most wouldn't notice. Any thoughts??? Thanks for listening! Love, Posted October 24, 2008 at 09:04 AM Posted October 24, 2008 at 09:04 AM It's your business, not Celine's. So stay away from anything Celine-related. When using a name that is "street-related," you have to bear in mind that it will cast a reflection on what products you're selling. If you are doing fine jewelry, I'd stay in the one digit. 1st Avenue to 9th Avenue. If your jewelry is mid-range in price and quality, then I'd say 11th Avenue to 15th Avenue. If your jewelry is urban-inspired, bohemian, craft-like jewelry, then you would be somewhere between 19th to 30th Street (or Avenue). Does this make any sense? LOL! Quote
LuisMa Posted October 24, 2008 at 10:10 AM Posted October 24, 2008 at 10:10 AM If you like numbers and/or abstract and want to relate it to Celine, probably you should go for something like "Lucky Nickel." That has a Celine reference that most wouldn't notice. Quote

While I appreciate your input, Sophoan, you have to bear in mind that I do know what I'm doing. I'm not trying to be rude at all, I just want to get it straight that it isn't a junior high craft project. That being said, when I said I was "open to" ideas Celine-related, I tried to make it clear that I wanted it subtle and un-noticeable to non-fans. Of course this business is about me, but as I am looking for an extensive re-brand I am open to many ideas. I have also toyed around with ideas relating to Bruce Springsteen songs... and this business surely isn't about him either. I love the idea of using a street name, as I am currently doing, but I am trying to stray away from a street number. I understand that any brand name will cast a reflection on the products that I'm selling. I would show you examples, however I don't have the new product line complete, let alone photographed. My previous works are a thing of the past, and I am trying to go a different direction with my style... so if I showed you those they wouldn't be indicative of the new direction. If you like numbers and/or abstract and want to relate it to Celine, probably you should go for something like "Lucky Nickel." That has a Celine reference that most wouldn't notice. Thanks Luis! That's the kind of idea I'm looking for... abstract. I worry that the Celine connection is too strong, however, because it directly relates to Celine in a way that is all hers. I just wouldn't want to associate Celine's adorable superstition with my business... don't want to tarnish it. Quote http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v56/JenniferCeline/nextplaneout3_small.jpg
