I use a Macbook and I love it. I will never go back to a PC.

Very good decision.

Aren't they though?! I am trying to avoid going to the mall because the temptation to buy is too horrible when you're in the store testing them.

I've used an Apple computer for as long as I can remember - my dad's always bought them, so when I was growing up, I didn't know about any other type of computer.

I bought my first laptop, a 14-inch PowerBook G3 with my own money in 1998, and all throughout the years, I've just upgraded.

Now I use a 17-inch MacBook Pro, and I'm in love with it. It's far too overpowered for my needs (msn, and reading the news), but I had the money, so I bought it. I justified it with the reason that I MIGHT need to use all of its power.

I've managed to convert some of my friends to Mac (I'm still working on them to convert them to Céline fans :msn-tongue: ). When they use my computer, they're attracted by its looks and its performance, so they've now bought Apples.

At work, we're given DELLs, and I hate them with as much hate as is possible. I think it knows that I use an Apple at home, and so it deliberately annoys me. Everything about Windows annoys me also, from the way that you insert a DVD or a CD, and you have to go to My Computer, and find the disc. Why doesn't it just appear on the Desktop like it does on my Mac?! And another thing - the computer is too cluttered with files! There are files with strange names everywhere, and I never use them, but I've been told that I shouldn't delete them.

I've proposed that I should be given an Apple to trial at work, and then I could prepare a report on its performance with ProEngineer and SigmaLink. So far, my manager has just said he'll think about it  .

I'm not sold by the new MacBook Pro, partly because they've not introduced the 17-inch version, and I don't like the black-rimmed screen, and I don't like the black keyboard.

I'm a Mac user! HOLLER!

I grew up on PC but used macs at school... of course at that time we were using OS 8 and 9 *shudder*.... lordy I feel old

My PCs crashed SO MANY EFFING TIMES. I think I went through at least 2 or 3 by the time I graduated high school, no joke.

I'm proud to report that I switched to Mac when I entered college... and that I've had it for a year and a half and I've been crash-free ever since!! Coincidence? I think not...

What I don't like is when some Mac users show this certain kind of superiority feel when they're using their computers at home or work or whatever. It's sad. The same of course goes for the Windows users. Edited by Gavel gavel gavel

That's right. Especially after Mac is almost the same thing as PC now with Intel CPU, UNIX OS.

I like Macs a lot even though I don't currently own one. To me the Mac OS seems to make so much more sense then Windows. Windows makes things more complicated than they need to be but for some reason, from people I've talked to, they seem to actually WANT the complications! Apple is more of an innovation company where as Microsoft just copies/steals things although they have been smart enough to market this in their favor.

For example the original Maccame out around 1984 with the graphical user interface, YEARS before Microsoft stole it! :giggle:

A few years ago Steve Jobs gave a commencement speech at Stanford University (It's on Youtube). One thing that he said was that when he was in college he took this calligraphy course for fun and he was fascinated by it. This lead to the development of the various fonts that we now take for granted which first came out in the Macs. Apple has always been more of an innovator than Microsoft.

cheers soph! yeh i logged on to apple uk and saw them - but i actualy agree with neilq - why is there not a new 17" update yet - just as im thinkin of goin a size bigger as well!! pah! and yeh i dont think the black surround is nice either - its unnessasary - i say just stick with the old design but go thinner - flat screen but perhaps right to the edge of the screen....no surround - that would look amazing! and keep the keyboard silver please! thank god there a white version coz the black looks crap like the air.

p.s surely with that plack surround - theyve made the screen smaller??

I made the switch to Mac in 2004. I had just bought a Dell laptop a couple of months earlier and the hard drive crashed on it within a couple of weeks. It was a "lemon" they said and Dell replaced the hard drive, but I lost all of my fabulous and important files.

So I became even angier with Windows and crappy Windows computers. I am a big graphics and video person.

I got a loan from my bank and used the computer I was buying as the collateral. LOL.

Purchased my PowerBook G4 12 inch laptop in 2004. Still running fine!!! In fact, it's got the latest OS on it and is running faster than before.

But I am now running into issues because it is PPC instead of Intel-based.

So as soon as I graduate this spring and get my first teaching job, I will get a new one.

Apple has discounts for students and teachers. They also offer refurbished things which are just as good as new ones.

I LOVE MY MAC AND MY IPHONE! They have made my life so much more satisfying! :D

I figure I spent $2200 on my powerbook in 2004 and it has served me well the last five years.

The time is fast approaching to upgrade though. I need an intel mac.

Definitely going to go for a MacBook Pro.

I've been using PC since childhood, but finally this year I can make money for myself and bought a MacBook. I'm a bit confused with the OS X at first but then after a short period of time of using I have started to like it. For one thing, unlike Windows when some program is not responding, the whole OS can still operate normally as though nothing has happened, and when I force quit the program, it quits faster than using the task manager in Windows.

The display is awesome, too. Suitable for graphics indeed. I used my friend's HP laptop once, and I was like "Hey, how the heck has the colors gone so pale?", and of course; using Mac is still not popular here in Thailand, and it is an advantage to be able to use Mac when applying for some company.

Macs look cool.. but they're not close to the Windows systems. Macs are built good though, and there are not many technicians for mac computers for that reason... I'm still staying with Windows
