Love, Posted October 19, 2008 at 05:40 AM Posted October 19, 2008 at 05:40 AM (edited) That's 100 million Jamaican dollars, which equals to 1.41 million US dollars. $100M for Celine. Next!Roland HenrySunday, October 19, 2008 International superstar Celine Dion's asking price of J$100 million is just too much for Turnkey Productions. "That figure is just way out of our reach," said Walter Elmore, Turnkey Productions principal, reacting to rumours that the multi-platinum-selling singer would be the headline act at next year's jazz festival. "We just don't have the audience or buying power to offset that kind of cost," Elmore told Sunday Entertainment in a phone interview on Friday afternoon. He said he had several talks with Dion's handlers in an effort to "work something out", but to no avail. Dion has been a stalwart on various international music charts for the better part of two decades and her commercial successes include several awards and a well-supported nightly concert show in Las Vegas. She is easily one of the best selling artistes alive and has a large fan-base worldwide. But Dion isn't the only foreign act who comes at a hefty price."We're also talking to Stevie Wonder, but that too, is just a matter of money," Elmore said, noting that he had been trying to attract the legend of an artiste for years. While Elmore refused to drop the exact spend it would take to bring Wonder to Jamaica, he said "it is a substantial amount of money". "I'm working on a number of angles to make it happen," Elmore told SE, insisting however, that he does not want to deceive prospective patrons by "saying it's a sure thing now" and be unable to deliver come Janurary 2009, when the festival is slated to happen. Though Elmore is still unsure about most of those who will be on the bill during the three-night festival, he did confirm that Lionel Richie - no stranger to the Jamaican jazz stage - is a shoe-in. Elmore told SE that he is also looking at bringing back former Foreigner front man Lou Gramm, who could not perform last year due to laryngitis. Elmore listed Atlantic Star, Toni Braxton, Kenny G and John Legend (with newcomer Estelle) as other internationals acts who may have a spot on the 2009 bill. CellyDee87 Posted October 19, 2008 at 06:07 AM Posted October 19, 2008 at 06:07 AM Technically 1.4 million American dollars isn't that much, it's a lot in terms of Jamaican money but it seems like a standard Celine price to me I believe there was once a thread about a private Celine show costing around the 2 million mark, so really it's not that shocking... Prince Whiskers Posted October 19, 2008 at 12:26 PM Posted October 19, 2008 at 12:26 PM Can't she simply do this for art's sake? After all, she needs not the money but the experience to come up with a credible jazz album. Quote http://cdn.webecoist.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/modern-pet-solo-blown-glass.jpg

I mean she's not a beginning artist! She had 25 millions for 8 concerts in Montreal so she usually ask for more Quote http://static-illicoweb.videotron.com/illicoweb/static/webtv/images/content/player/TVA_Celine_Dion_Sans_Attendre_Vf_WT_Poster.jpg
Love, Posted October 19, 2008 at 04:50 PM Author Posted October 19, 2008 at 04:50 PM Actually, I'm well-aware of Celine's fee demands. I know that her private party asking price is up to $6.5 million for a private concert. that is cheap actually compare to 10 million US dollar payment to her for an exclusive concert for the Sultan of the Brunei, Hajl Hassanal Bolkhiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah. He's considered the third richest man of the planet. CORRECTION: the concert for the Sultan of Brunei was 1 million British Pounds (1.5 million US dollars) for Celine. The Sultan gave Michael Jackson $10 million. I'm just putting into perspective about this, because the Air Jamaican Jazz and Blues Festival is a very respected, international music festival and it is not a private event. Normally, there would be discounts given to music organizations when they have events like these. On top of this, most of the concerts at these jazz festivals are not full concerts. Back in the summer of 2002, when Celine performed in those summer concert series, where she sang about 5 songs each, I highly doubt that her representatives demanded this kind of money. Quote
