smw Posted October 16, 2008 at 12:17 AM Posted October 16, 2008 at 12:17 AM So - last night - I was driving a friend home...and I introduced her to Celine's French music. She was, needless to say, blown away - at the intimacy, the quality of her voice, etc. She asked for a CD encompassing Celine's greatest French songs. And I know which ones I believe to be the greatest...but I'd like other opinions. I want a well rounded CD - with all the greats...as well as different tempo and style. Quote

Love, Posted October 16, 2008 at 12:46 AM Posted October 16, 2008 at 12:46 AM (edited) I don't get why there are so many of these "construct an album" topics here... There is such an easy answer to this topic: http://www.celinedion.com/celinedion/engli...cgi?album_id=21 Edited October 16, 2008 at 12:47 AM by Love, Quote
minolli Posted October 16, 2008 at 12:52 AM Posted October 16, 2008 at 12:52 AM If I were making a French Celine CD for a friend, it would probably look something like this: 1. J'attendais2. On ne change pas3. Les paradises4. Je danse dans ma tete5. Regarde-moi6. Terre7. Tu nages8. Je ne suis pas celle9. Pour que tu m'aimes encore10. Le blues du businessman11. Dans un autre monde12. Tout l'or des hommes13. A cause14. L'amour existe encore15. Contre nature16. Destin17. Et s'il n'en restait qu'une...18. Ziggy19. Tous les blues sont ecrits pour toi20. Vole It's not necessarily that these songs are all my absolute favorites (though many of them are), but I think it gives a good overview of the variety of Celine's French music. MTJ Posted October 16, 2008 at 01:06 AM Posted October 16, 2008 at 01:06 AM I agree with "Love," just pick your favorites from ONCP :-) Quote
smw Posted October 16, 2008 at 02:07 AM Author Posted October 16, 2008 at 02:07 AM There are many songs that surpass the ones on ONCP - Mon homme, Papillon, J'attendais, as well as a couple of songs from the D'elles album..... ...thanks for the input, "Love", but I thought creating a more encompassing, passionate album would be more creative... It's amazing how similar my tracklist so far is in comparison to this one! Even opening the album with the hauntingly amazing "J'attendais" to closing it with the bittersweet "Vole". Exactly what I had invisioned. We do have some differences though... Quote

Black Kitten Posted October 16, 2008 at 08:24 AM Posted October 16, 2008 at 08:24 AM (edited) if u want a collection of her best french recordings, pick up a copy of On Ne Change Pas and For You. BUT if you want a REAL gem, pick up S'il Suffisait D'aimer or D'elles. Edited October 16, 2008 at 08:27 AM by dhena Quote

Ferbusek Posted October 16, 2008 at 02:01 PM Posted October 16, 2008 at 02:01 PM There is no perfect French album - all the French songs are great!! It's hard to choose which are the best to put in on one CD. The best album will be if you have all songs on one CD Quote "Fly, fly little wingFly beyond imaginingThe softest cloud, the whitest doveUpon the wind of heaven's lovePast the planets and the starsLeave this lonely world of oursEscape the sorrow and the painAnd fly again" 28.06.2008 - Krakow - Poland
