Celine "Unplugged"

I know it's been mentioned here before about some fans wanting Celine to do an "unplugged" concert but I don't think how we wanted it done has ever been discussed. Anyway, I was getting my hair done the other day and as I was sitting there, this image came to me of Celine in concert.

Celine has just released a new CD entitled "Celine Dion: A Softer Side of Me". Celine doesn't have to prove anything but the songs for this new English CD capitalize on the qualities Celine admires so much about her French albums. I believe I read somewhere that with her English albums in the past, it has been about the notes and how long she can hold them. WIth her French albums, it's the music, the emotion, etc. I don't know what unplugged means to you but I know what it means to me, so you can take what it means to you and apply it to your own fantasy.

 

So my fantasy concert: The stage is set so that Celine can be up close and personal with the audience. The audience surrounds her on three sides so that her back is never towards anyone but the live band: a piano player, an acoustic guitar player, a percussionist, and a bass player. The lighting is very intimate: candles with whatever special lighting is needed to be able to see her but not ruin the mood. Celine is sitting on a stool, center "stage" welcoming the audience in, speaking to those she can, smiling at those she can't. She doesn't want to make an "entrance" because she doesn't want the show to be about her but sharing an experience that includes her. After everyone has entered and is settled, soft music begins to play and Celine begans to briefly tell the story behind the new CD that she has co-written. After a brief pause, the guitarist begins to play and Celine begins to sing. Romance is in the air and Celine solidifies this feeling with her mesmerizing vocals. Celine is free to exercise her creative expression (like she does during her vocal warm-ups). She is relaxed and comfortable, though not too much to take away from her experience with the audience. She does take a few request for songs from other albums (including the French albums but only ones that fit the mood that has already been set. THe audience is aware of this) The audience is hypnotized by the sensuality in her voice and in her presence and we are touched by the obvious sharing of her own emotions with us. She is the Celine we know and love. As a surprise to us, Celine steps from the stool that she has used off and on for the past hour and a half (she's been conversing with us in between song), and goes to the piano. She begins to play and sing the final song of the evening. At the end, she receives a standing ovation that seems to last forever. No one wants to leave.

 

There is more to this fantasy that involves my meeting with Celine but perhaps I'll share that at another time (or not). What would you add to this or what would be your fantasy?

anyway...id love to have seen that but i think its 10 years too late. i wouldnt like to hear a nasel accoustic set from her now.
