I so want to have a long orchestral version of the song. I've always loved it.

It's great to see that so many fans here love YAI. It was actually the song that first made me a Celine fan 8 years ago. :)

 

I remember that I was 11 years old, and I got my first iPod for Christmas in 2005. After that, I began to download songs that I liked on iTunes - one of those was MHWGO - although I knew nothing about the singer at the time. Then, just days after downloading MHWGO in February 2006, I saw the Air Canada commercial on TV. As soon as I realised that this song was by Celine too, there was no turning back! :w00t:

 

To this day, it remains one of my favourite Celine songs because of the impact it had on me at the start. It was such a huge coincidence seeing that commercial so soon after downloading MHWGO, I was clearly destined to be a Celine fan. :giggle: But it wasn't just Celine's unique voice that had an impact on me. I LOVE flying, in fact, for most of my childhood years I dreamed of being an airline pilot, so the lyrics were very special to me... :wub:

I think an album of "alternate" versions of songs should definitely be released at some point by Sony, even if it's just a digital release. It was cost them nothing and surely there would be enough interest among fans for these "new" versions of songs. We know they already have them in the vaults and high quality versions would be great. This orchestral version of "You and I" along with the alternate edits of "Think Twice" and "The Greatest Reward" could just be a start. Start adding in some demo versions such as "Pour Que Tu M'aimes Encore" and you would have a really interesting album that I for one would love to see released.

me too! i did like you and i but i found it al a bit cheesy - the lyrics are awful. 'you and i were meant to fly' please.

The ironic thing is, this song had quite a bit of airplay on the US, I remember hearing it a lot. It was definitely a single. The weirdest part was it got a ton more airplay than LMBTL. Figure that one out!

The music video was actually shown on VH1 too! Those were the days!

 

I love the music video, it fits the song perfectly. And Celine looks absolutely stunning!

I think that they only did a very small part of the song with that orchestral version. Sounds great!

If they did this, I'd rather have Celine re-record the songs. Kinda like Kylie Minogue did with her Abbey Road sessions. Also, I don't think there is actually an orchestral version of "You and I" floating around out there. I think it was just made for the commercial.

Do you thi nk she recorded the full version in French of You And I (Mes ailes à moi), or was it just that part for the commercial? I wish to know... :hmm:

 

I think there was an interview during the filming of the videoclip where the author said behind the scenes that there was a French version, but I'm not sure if that was for the commercial only or also the full song.
