THE POLICE and BEYONCE KNOWLES are the highest paid musicians in the world, amassing fortunes of $115 million (GBP62 million) and $80 million (GBP43.2 million) respectively in the past 12 months.

The rockers - whose final reunion tour shows brought in $28.3 million (GBP15.3 million) alone - topped the new Forbes magazine poll to find the World's Best Paid Music Stars.

Other wealthy stars to make the top 10 include Justin Timberlake ($44 million/GBP23.7 million), Madonna ($40 million/GBP21.6 million) and reformed rockers Genesis ($31 million/GBP16.75 million).

The top 10 earners are as follows:
