Julian Posted September 16, 2008 at 08:33 PM Posted September 16, 2008 at 08:33 PM (edited) As we all know, the first name for the 2007 Album was "The Woman in Me" and you can still read and see it everywhere... The recording sessions, the tourbook, her interviews,...! http://i62.photobucket.com/albums/h83/CelJunkee/vlcsnap-293070.jpg For example, here is a part from the tourbook:"It's about sharing with you, the woman in me, in all its diversity: wife, mother, sister, friend, singer."After reading this i think the idea was just beautifull! It's just one example which makes me think "Why did they changed the whole idea?" i mean, Taking Chances is a really nice title but now after one year and missed chances .... I think "The woman in me" would be the better title. Its deeper. The woman in me stands for the singer, the mother, the wife etc. she is now and she will be. Timeless? They edited the recording sessions DVD too. The part they are speaking about the title of the album is edited afterward ( and it seems not very professional). But TJTWIM is still the first Song on it... The only thing which keeps the name was the TWIM TV Special like a compromiss. And then they deleted it from the Tour :-( i really loved it, what do you say? After the sentence which is still in the Tourbook, her past Interviews etc. i think the original/first title would had fit better. Just my thoughts, would be intresting to read yours Edited September 16, 2008 at 08:37 PM by Julian Quote
CSCfan Posted September 16, 2008 at 08:48 PM Posted September 16, 2008 at 08:48 PM Yes I noticed that too....it's really obvious, especially in the recording sessions, that it was made when the album was still called "The Woman In Me". I understand that some people don't see it, but you really have to notice the way they say things. Like you said Julian in the scene with Vito Luprano where they discuss the title....it's obvious Céline was rooting for "The Woman In Me". It's unfortunate they didn't go that way, but that's not even the worst. The worst thing is that they couldn't live up to the "Taking Chances" theme. Maybe because of the last minute change, maybe because they underestimated it.... One thing is for sure, if they sticked with the original title, there would be a lot less complaining about taking risks [chances]. "Taking Chances" has become more "Taking Chances - promises not kept" All the talking how she wanted to do this and become that, didn't see any of that. And such a good song. Quote
grobandion Posted September 16, 2008 at 08:51 PM Posted September 16, 2008 at 08:51 PM Well, I agree with you. I feel "The woman in me" would have been a better choice as a title. I personally don't like the song (which I have already discussed before in other topic) but as a concep, I feel just like you."Taking chances" is more like a joke now to be honest...what chances ???!!! This happened before, as I recall "Let's talk about love" was supposed to be called "The reason".Here is the same situation for me. That song (even though is not one of my favs) is very important IMHOThis song is a collaboration with Carole King (a legend) and Sir George Martin (a huge legend) so I feel it deserved the privilige of giving the album a title...anyway, just my opinion saludos Quote

Julian Posted September 16, 2008 at 09:05 PM Author Posted September 16, 2008 at 09:05 PM (edited) Yepp, it was from Shania, most of us knew it already. Thanks Some people said last year, The Woman in Me sounds like the Album is something more for Woman. It doesnt sound that good to the younger generation etc. I thought the same. Taking Chances was and is more fresh. But they could keep the old title because they didnt promote the album to younger generations. No music stations for younger people etc. Just one german tv station did promo for TC, nd this was one for people around 50-60. So no need to change the title into something more fresh But the most stupid thing of the last minute change is that they didnt worked out a new concept. "The Woman in Me" was almost a little concept. And TC is just a title. A little sad... Edited September 16, 2008 at 09:08 PM by Julian Quote
AllCeline Posted September 16, 2008 at 09:34 PM Posted September 16, 2008 at 09:34 PM I have two theories... The first thing that came to mind was Shiana's album. As my sister's a big Shania fan, she's gotta copy of the album and when I first read that Celine's new record would be called "The Woman in Me," my mind flashed back to Shania. The second theory is a bit out there but nevertheless, still possible... I'm just thinking--If the album was actually be called "The Woman In Me," it may be possible that some guys would kind be reluctant to go out and purchase a copy. But then again, one could always lie and say it was for a girlfriend or something. CellyDee87 Posted September 16, 2008 at 10:11 PM Posted September 16, 2008 at 10:11 PM First of all I LOVE That's Just The Woman In Me One of my favourite Celine songs EVER! The Woman in Me is a great concept... for fans like us only, but for a wider audience it does not work at all. For the casual Celine fans or even non-fans out there, seeing an album "The Woman in Me" Celine Dion, they would never even consider buying it as they probably assume it's the same "MHWGO sappy stuff" that they love to hate (ridiculous I know, but I've seen it with my own eyes ) Taking Chances just leaves it open for interpretation allowing some people who normally wouldn't even consider buying the album to perhaps Think Twice. I do still think the title The Woman in Me has been wasted, it's an absolute gem and us fans really appreciate it, I think it could have been a fantastic title for The Essential Collection and we all know the song is one of Celine's dear favourites, but I guess that ship has sailed now. CSCfan Posted September 16, 2008 at 10:18 PM Posted September 16, 2008 at 10:18 PM Yeah that's a good one....it would've been a great, even more beautiful than "My Love", title for the Essential Collection.. celinesounds Posted September 16, 2008 at 10:46 PM Posted September 16, 2008 at 10:46 PM If was today I would chose Can't Fight the Feelin', but I still think that The Woman in me makes more sense for the concept Quote #FREEJAVITO
Dionesque Posted September 16, 2008 at 10:55 PM Posted September 16, 2008 at 10:55 PM I agree with Julian, Mathias and the others. In my opinion "The woman in me" would be a better title. But we can say this now, bacause we already know about the 'lost chances'. Almost one year ago none of us would suspect how the things will go so we were excited about 'taking chances' and some new sounds in Céline's recordings... Personally I love "That's just the woman in me" so much and of course there are more strong, feminine songs on this album - "This Time", "My Love", "I got nothing left" or even "Eyes on me"... Different aspects of being a woman. To bad they changed the title and in the last minute hectic they lost the clue appropriate to the new title and that's why they also 'lost' the chances. The second theory is a bit out there but nevertheless, still possible... I'm just thinking--If the album was actually be called "The Woman In Me," it may be possible that some guys would kind be reluctant to go out and purchase a copy. But then again, one could always lie and say it was for a girlfriend or something. I don't like this theory and I don't agree with it. So what do you say to "D'elles"? It also a feminine title for an album. I'm not Shania fan but I'm sure many guys bought her "The Woman In Me" album. I think the 'inside' is more important then the title when it comes to the question: to buy or not to buy, right? smw Posted September 17, 2008 at 12:13 AM Posted September 17, 2008 at 12:13 AM Thanks for this topic. I agree with you. I think there would be have been more validation for this album - had it stuck to its original concept. She would have had a lot more to talk about in interviews as well. I feel like Celine turns into a bit of a robot on talk shows - telling the same stories, saying what she thinks she needs to say - rather than what she actually feels. Anyway - I honestly don't love the song, though. I love that she recorded if after wanting to for so long. But the lyrics don't do much for me (granted, I'm a 21 year old male)...but they aren't the best lyrics. I love the Janis note - and that kind of saves the song for me. And I can't say I miss it from the tour - mostly because it was lipped...and there are enough of those! Quote

Ray Posted September 19, 2008 at 10:06 PM Posted September 19, 2008 at 10:06 PM I LOVED the title "The woman in me". As it is one of the best songs on the album, it would even be better than Taking Chances as that is one of weaker tracks on the album. Who cares that Shania Twain had an album with the same title years ago??? So many artists have songs and albums with the same name. As long as it fits, I can't see the problem. Javito Posted September 21, 2008 at 02:07 PM Posted September 21, 2008 at 02:07 PM No no no, it was going to be called "The Mommy In Me", but the songwritters and producers felt so embarrased in the last minute that they finally changed it Quote "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
Black Kitten Posted September 21, 2008 at 03:03 PM Posted September 21, 2008 at 03:03 PM (edited) the very first time i learned that her upcoming album will be named "The Woman in Me", i was sooooooooo disappointed. only because it echoes Shania Twain's country mammoth "The Woman in Me", and i don't want any comparison between these artists. and then they changed it to "Taking Chances", and again i hated it and i thought it's not really a good album title. so i had a change of heart, and realized The Woman in Me is a great way to represent her status as an artist, a mother and as a WOMAN to her audience. (eyes on me would've been a great album title too!). Edited September 21, 2008 at 03:04 PM by dhena Quote

Snowhite Posted September 30, 2008 at 01:23 PM Posted September 30, 2008 at 01:23 PM well Taking Chances as a title is more addictive!I can't compare it with The woman in me.If the title of the album was this then they would choose That's just the woman in me as the leading song Quote
