Celine's Record Deal

Hi there.

 

I was talking with a friend of mine recently about Celine/Sony and as a result of this I realised I did not know what Celine's record deal was. I have googled it and haven't come up with anything. Does anyone know?

 

I know that there has been much talk recently about Annie Lennox and her 4 albums + GH deal that she has now come to the end of with Sony and it got me thinking. If anyone knows exactly what Celine is signed on for at Sony, then I would be really interested to know.

 

I am NOT inviting a Sony-hating rant (we all have our opinions on that relationship, many of which are unfavourable as I am sure that regular visitors here are already too well aware) however if anyone can help answer my question factually that would be great!

I have no idea but the point is Sony just like in Mariah's case can release whatever they like as long as it's old. I'm not sure whether a DVD/live Cd fits under this hood of releases but I'd suppose so.

I read in an article recently(La Presse I think) when they were in Montréal where René said that Céline was offered the exact same thing as Madonna has signed for recently... by AEG? or Concert West? or???? I don't really remember which company to tell you the truth but I understood it was a ten year contract including, if I remember well, three world tour(clé en main)said René. René said he had turn down that offer.

 

As for the actual contract with Sony, that is apparently ending soon, I don't know much about it.

i Haven´t heard much about this but i know that her Essential album will be her last with Sony so far.

 

If she sign a record deal with other company i´d say she´d make a deal with Warner Bros Group 143 Records were Celine´s longtime collaborator David Foster owns and runs with Grace Josh Groban is sign there ,Michael Bublé, Réene Olstead, all his discoverings and he really descovered Celine the new Whitney-Barbra for Sony Music in 1989.

i Know David would do his "BEST" For his favorit singer in the world. :wub:

When she took her first break she was at the end of a contract too. But she still came back etc. Usually GH + live albums etc are usually extras on contracts. Normally its only studio albums that are numbered towards your contract - ie 3/5 album deals. Sony normally have plans for at least one release while she's away - unless she is moving record companies. If she does i'm sure we'll hear about it when it happens.

I don't really care about the company. She can have a contract with any company as long as we get our CDs and stuff. Of course, there are a lot of things which could be better (like launching so many versions of one CD... I don't like that, but it's marketing).

I think the release of the Taking Chances World Tour DVD will no longer be under Sony which is A REALLY GOOD NEWS to me. I hope she will be promoted and respected during that time with her new record label.

I don't think she will ever leave Sony after all these years.

 

Don't forget Céline is a VERY superstitious (spelling?) lady, she pays huge attention to her lucky charms etc.

I don't think she will leave the label with which she reached the toppest tops of her career.

You know, like the old sport rule: you don't change the winning team, right?

 

Agree about bad promotion etc. but I still think Céline does not care much for the promo anymore, she's reaching her "Barbra-level" (like I said and explained it somewhere else in this forum) and she may stick to her Sony team forever.
