Frozen_Phoenix Posted August 23, 2008 at 07:41 AM Posted August 23, 2008 at 07:41 AM I remember last year around this I really felt like "Wow, 2007 is a Celine Year and it'll even get better" With D'elles we just got an absolutly wonderful album which I immidiatly fell in love with. I listened to "Le Temps qui compte" 5 times a day and was so curious about the new English ablum that was already announced. I thought that "If D'elles is that good, her English album will also be fantastic". I was dying to hear her"Comeback" single.I already had my ticket for her concert in Nice and was so looking forward to hear all those D'elles songs live. I was so happy that I would finally get the chance to see my idol live.We already knew that the Las Vegas DVD would come out and I was so happy about that because I also waited for this DVD to happen for such a long time because I never made it to Vegas and I would have died if I had never seen what she did there. So with 2 Albums ( and even the Christmas album re-released ) it really felt like a Celine year.I thought she would be back in the charts and finally score another huge hit. Because she so would deserved that. Then the in studio video for Taking Chances was released and when I first heard the song I was disappointed, it just didn't sound that much like Celine but more like Kelly Clarkson.Anyway I listened to it more often and at some point I really fell in love with it. There so much energy in it and in the end I thought that it indeed sounded like Celine. The situation today: I don't know but now it really feels like 2007 was the Celine year with all the new stuff coming out but 2008 doesn't feel that celinish anymore ^^.I loved being able to see all her cool performances in TV shows or the TV specials for D'elles. The Las Vegas Blu-Ray turned out great and I also liked Taking Chances although I don't think that's her best album and I also think that it didn't turn out as different as it was announced it would be. We only got one real single and one realy music video and she didn't score another huge hits in the charts.I loved my concert in Munich but I was disappointed by the concert it nice (for reasons I've already stated several times). I never heard all those songs from D'elles live and I also have the feeling that I'll never get to hear them live. Today it feels like: Oh my god, soon the tour will be over and then she'll probably be off getting another baby and that means waiting for some years for new stuff to be released ^^°.Then the only things left will be a Tour CD and DVD. Somehow I expected a larger wave after Taking Chances.Anyway I will always love her and her music and I'll always be happy for Celinish stuff to come out What do you think? Jacqui Posted August 23, 2008 at 12:17 PM Posted August 23, 2008 at 12:17 PM It was a good year. It kind of brought me back to Celine. I always loved her, but with her in Vegas and somewhat out of the spotlight, I got distracted by other things for a while. Then Taking Chances was released, the tour dates were announced, and everything sort of took off.... I feel like 2008 has been a Celine year too, so far. I'm trying not to think about 2009 yet, and just enjoy what's happening now. I hope she has another baby, more than anything, but I know we will miss her... Quote
Céline's Blues Posted August 23, 2008 at 12:20 PM Posted August 23, 2008 at 12:20 PM I'm very underwhelmed personally but that Quebec Special Anniversary Ultra Charged Turbo Accelerated Concert injected some hope indeed. Quote http://i.imgur.com/dmreJ.jpg

When she was in Vegas she felt so far away - I never got to go and see her so to see her standing on a stage in front of me in May was the highlight of my year! It was nice to hear people talking about her again (even if in Britain we have to put up with mostly rubbish about her). I was just really glad to have two more albums from her last year and am looking forward to her greatest hits coming out in October - hopefully she'll get more (hopefully good) press. I also would love her to have another baby - I know that it would remove her from the spotlight for a while but we all know how much she wants it, and she has worked so hard over the past few years, she totally deserves it!! reamary Posted August 23, 2008 at 06:38 PM Posted August 23, 2008 at 06:38 PM (edited) It was a good year. The exact same thing happened to me! This past year has sort of brought me back to Céline. Of course I too always loved her, and she never stopped being the number one artist for me, but while she was in Vegas and out of the spotlight like you mentioned, I kinda calmed down a little, and didn't listen to her that much, compared to before. I'd say this phase lasted from 2004 to the spring 2007, until it was announced she would give a few concerts in Paris, Nice, Belgium and Switzerland. So originally I got a ticket for a concert in Paris, which I later had to sell since it was announced she'd come to Finland too and I wasn't able to afford both. In the summer 2007 I worked in France and I also visited the Musée Grévin in Paris, to see her statue there! I bought D'elles in France, and later in the fall Taking Chances, and then wished for the A New Day -dvd for Christmas and got it (of course ). I remember last Christmas holidays were so great, I was just watching the dvd, and eating loads of chocolate with it! Oh and then there was also the WMA awards in December, which was amazing cause she finally got a real "legend" award she really deserves, and she was so beautiful there.. I think this year 2008 has been even more Céline year than 2007, because of the tour. I was just constantly so happy and excited the whole spring, just waiting for the concert in June. I thought about it all the time and imagined what it would be like! And somewhere around February-March, I started listening to Taking Chances like every day, and since that, up to this very date, there honestly hasn't been a day that I wouldn't have listened to Céline! After the concert date there were many weeks that I didn't listen to anything else at all! I guess it was like this for many of us though. Anyway I have really fallen even deeper in love with Céline especially during this year! And there are still things to look forward to, fortunately. The tour dvd is something I can't wait! I want to relive those moments so bad, and show to my family too what it was like! I don't know how 2009 will be like and will it still remain as a very Céline year (don't want to think about it too much yet either), but I know for sure that 2008 will at least always stay one of the best (Céline) years ever! A New Day Has Come Posted August 23, 2008 at 09:02 PM Posted August 23, 2008 at 09:02 PM I think it was the best year ever I say Celine in Vegas and it was amazing as allways. When D `Elles came out I thought wow what a fantstic c.d. and Taking Chances came out and I was like wow this c.d. kicks A@@ all the way and then tour dates came out and I was so excited and I got my tickets for the first Vancouver concert. I was so excited and overwhelmd by it all. Quote

takeachance Posted August 24, 2008 at 01:05 AM Posted August 24, 2008 at 01:05 AM This year I saw Celine in concert for the first time and joined this forum!!.Its about time because I have been a fan of Celines for like 13 years or more (cant remember?) . The Taking chances tour definetely brought me back into Celine Ville again. While she was in Vegas, Ireland had not heard much about her, like I only got her One Heart CD recently!!?? So ya , im a bigger Celine fan than I ever was because of this year...... Quote http://i66.tinypic.com/2dk08jn.gifRIP Rene Angelil xx Sending Love and Prayers to Celine
cathfan Posted August 24, 2008 at 01:10 AM Posted August 24, 2008 at 01:10 AM I'm happy with this awesome Celine year! My mom introduced me to Celine when I was a baby. I listened to her music my whole life, well 16 years, and I always loved her. With the cd D'Elles and Taking Chances, plus every other cd I have, I've became an even more bigger fan this year. I always loved her, but never really told it. Now I am proud to say that CELINE IS THE QUEEN!!! Quote "remember the name, because you'll never forget the voice"

LOL! Kelly Clarkson... I thought nearly the same thing! Bear in mind that Kara Dioguardi has written many songs for Kelly. Quote
Bell Posted August 24, 2008 at 12:28 PM Posted August 24, 2008 at 12:28 PM Honestly, I expected something more. I thought that Celine would be the world's top performer again. D'ELLES is for me one of her best albums ever but I was a little disapointed by TAKING CHANCES. I like the album as a whole but I think that 'Taking Chances' wasn't the right choice for the first single. I really like the video but the song itself...just not that good... Actually, I can't say it was a bad year but it could have been MUCH better. The world tour IS successful but no one knows what will happen when it ends. She will probably take a LONG break and...who knows...maybe she'll never come back again. Quote 16 YEARS A FORUM MEMBER

Maybe the right choice for the first single from TAKING CHANCES was 'Fade Away'. It's not a typical Celine song, it reminds me of Anastacia's style - so much rock. It has great lyrics + Celine's powerful singing so it could have been a real success. Quote 16 YEARS A FORUM MEMBER

stevo Posted August 25, 2008 at 11:07 AM Posted August 25, 2008 at 11:07 AM My absolute dreams came true and I will never forget that night on the 2nd May when I met her...it was the best year ever for Celine. She's back with a force showing she's the best and most able performer. Her tour is amazing and after seeing it 3 times, buying the album, the DVD, watching all the tour vids, the snippets here and there, it has been so much fun. Roll on 2009- she'll never stop. So excited Quote
Alex_Incognito Posted August 26, 2008 at 01:19 AM Posted August 26, 2008 at 01:19 AM Last year was amazing. I went to France for the first time while D'ELLES was selling like wild! It was wonderful seeing the Celine displays at the FNAC near l'Etoile. To me D'ELLES is one of her best French albums, no joke. TAKING CHANCES, ehhh, there are some real gems on there, but it wasn't as amazing as D'ELLES. But it's pretty hard to compare to. The tour----I go this weekend to see her in Montreal. Surely it will be the peak of my fandom to this point. I am dissapointed with the Franco-set list, but most franco fans are. I fear that if she takes a few years off we'll go back to hearing BYLM and IACBTMN over and over again. We've heard so little from her last few French albums. Above all, her team needs to re-connect with the fans. But I'm not totally dis-satisfied. Celine still enchants me. Always has and always will. Timster Posted August 27, 2008 at 08:48 AM Posted August 27, 2008 at 08:48 AM (edited) Well 2007/2008 is far more exciting than 2005/2006, as there were no new releases. Seeing Celine (and Rene) in May has to be one of the best moments in my life. And I really enjoy listening to D'elles and especially Taking Chances, there are so many great songs in there that should be realeased as singles. This has been a great Celine Year!
