Nikosn17 Posted August 23, 2008 at 11:18 AM Posted August 23, 2008 at 11:18 AM OMG look what I found "The original roster of artist line-up was originally spearheaded by Mariah Carey, Celine Dion, and Whitney Houston. However, plans were scrapped after difficulties arose between Houston and Dion[2]. As the list of the second roster of artists was made for the songwriters, Sony Music and Mathew Knowles bid $500,000 for Beyoncé Knowles to sing more lines than any other artist. [3] Disney donated $76,000 for Miley Cyrus' inclusion to the roster of artists.[4] Rapper Jay-Z penned $95,000 for Def Jam Recordings artist Rihanna to sing the second most number of lines after wife Beyoncé[5]. Clive Davis reportedly submitted a check containing $275,000 to the charity single for the inclusion of Leona Lewis [6] and $290,000 for Carrie Underwood's participation[7]. Kenneth "Babyface" Edmonds contacted Mariah Carey to sing the climactic high note and she gladly accepted.[8] Solange Knowles was also endorsed by Mathew Knowles, however; she was rejected by the charity single executives in favor of Ashanti[9]. Christina Aguilera was originally offered the part of Carrie Underwood but RCA pulled her out of the charity single due to the editing of her adlib parts in favor of Underwood and Knowles' vocals.[10] Beyoncé Knowles donated $250,000 for the inclusion of fellow R&B artists Ciara and Mary J. Blige, to sing the parts originally for Alicia Keys and Jennifer Hudson.[11]" That would have been so awesome . Quote

CSCfan Posted August 23, 2008 at 11:36 AM Posted August 23, 2008 at 11:36 AM Yeah, somehow I find that very....wrong. The original line-up sound so much better....hopefully one day [albeit for a different charity].And I wonder what those "difficulties" were.. DianaLuts Posted August 27, 2008 at 05:34 PM Posted August 27, 2008 at 05:34 PM Maybe they list only artists appearing live. Since Celine has a show that night in Philly, she may have recorded a message. And that is not as big as lets say so and so appearing live maybe? Quote

whineupemily Posted August 28, 2008 at 02:02 AM Posted August 28, 2008 at 02:02 AM Apparently there this cause will have a song that will be sung at a benefit show that night....The song is called "Just Stand Up" and sung by female artists only: Mariah Carey, Beyonce, Rihanna, Mary J. Blige, Sheryl Crow, Fergie, Miley Cyrus, Melissa Etheridge, Ashanti, Natasha Bedingfield, Keyshia Cole, Ciara, Leona Lewis, LeAnn Rimes and Carrie Underwood. and i totally wanna know why celine is not singing on this song! oh well, she is incredible and such an inspiration I think we need to slap who ever put together the singers for this event.Do they not know what Celine went through when Rene had Cancer?! Thats a stupid list, Celine should be singing it solo haha Quote

kathyc25 Posted September 6, 2008 at 05:43 AM Posted September 6, 2008 at 05:43 AM So I just watched it, and I was a little disappointed that Celine didn`t record a message or anything, but it was a good show. Josh Groban sang Imagine, and it was lovely, and I got to laugh at Mariah because she sounded like crap Quote Music Is Life...Live ItYou are the music while the music lasts. ~T.S. Love, Posted October 4, 2008 at 01:18 PM Posted October 4, 2008 at 01:18 PM I just listened to the song again this morning... and I must say, frankly, this would have been REALLY nice for Celine to have been a part of. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this song! It's one of the best collaborative, tribute, charity songs written in years! It's fresh, up-beat, infectious, inspiring, straight-forward, enjoyable, and memorable. I prefer this song to Annie's "Sing," MJ's "What More Can I Give" and Sharon Stone's "Come Together Now." in which Celine has participated in in the last four years - although I love all four of them to certain degrees because they're all amazing in their own rights and have contributed to humanity.
