Any teachers here?

Hello i'm a teacher and I'd like to ask some questions:

 

i work for 12 hours on Sundays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays so... i am afraid that i'll lose my voice very soon... I don't shout but we DO have to talk of course....especially when we're explaining a grammar lesson.

 

DO u know any good vocal exercises? i usually eat honey and drink lots of warm water....

 

My second question is: Do I have any colleagues in this forum?

I will become a teacher someday for now I am working in a school that gives private lessons, now a lot during the summer.

When I sense that my voice is becoming weaker I just try to shut up for the rest of the day that helps a lot actually... but if you are not shouting all the time, which I guess you don't, I don't see any problem... if you feel it's getting worse try to give group works, then you don't have to talk that much!

 

Which subjects are you teaching?

I start my first teaching job in France this October!

 

I'll be working as un assistant de l'anglais (English teaching assistant). I'll be teaching Primary school.

I"m studying Primary Teaching, Masters next year. Haven't even thought of some day loosing my voice from repeating myself thousands and thousands of times. The primary kids are gorgeous but they seem to have trouble listening a lot of the time

My wish is also to become a teacher, in French (and some other language, English or Spanish)! But I'm only about in the middle of my studies, and I'll have to apply separately for the "teachers' studies" next spring, so I don't even know yet if I'm going to be accepted! But I hope so.

 

I don't know any vocal exercises though.. Other than silence. Do you live alone? Because if you do, that is very easy to put into effect. Just don't talk/whisper/sing/do anything out loud at all for a whole day. That could help! Also drinking a lot of water like you mentioned.

By the way, how come you have to work even 12 hours per day? I mean, do you have that many lessons a day??

Ummm... Well... Voice exercises for singing - I can certainly give you some tips on that lol.

I've taken a vocal course for awhile now, so here's my little tidbit...

 

1. Do scales in different forms

a. Do. Do Re. Do Me. Do Fa. Do So. Do La. Do Ti. Do Do.

Do. Do Ti. Do Ti La. Do Ti La So. Do Ti La So Fa. Do Ti La So Fa Me. Do Ti La So Fa Me Re. Do Ti La So Fa Me Re Do.

 

2. One two three four tralalalalalaaaaa

One two three four tralalalalaaaaaa

 

It's hard to explain VOCAL exercises with TYPING lol.

Record yourself "performing" the lecture during 1st period and then play that recording to your students in periods 2, 3, 4, 5, and so on...
