New interview with Rene (IN FRENCH)

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

Here's an interview I just discovered from Canoe.

http://lcn.canoe.ca/cgi-bin/player/video.c...080813_rene.wmv

For those of you who don't speak French, I must say it is TOO long to translate! And if buffers too much. (so don't ask for a COMPLETE translation! ;) )

The main points are:

The show will be a little different from Paris (In Montreal)

-Doesn't want to give away everything

-Ziggy is a difference, it was a big hit in France, not so much Quebec

-He talks about the special show in Quebec City being uniquement in French

-He talks about the differences with this tour---all the screens, new systems. Everyone that goes CAN see.

-He talkes about the documentaries being made during the tour

-He says it's possible that they will do Vegas again in a few years

-Talks about their house and it being special to them

-And it cuts off when they talk about doing a jazz album, or another one.

It's disgusting that it cuts off right as he talks about a jazz album!

...and most importantly!

There is NO sign of Celine retiring! So get that out of your mind!!!!

She wants to do Jazz, R&B, and movies! Singing is always going to be there for her.

We'll see but you're right! Too bad they cut there but one thing at a time I guess... :giggle: Yes she will still sing... :kicking: , but she WILL rest for a year as planned and .... here and there she will take breaks I guess  and that's reasonable and fine with me. Yes, singing is always going to be there for her(commercial project or not)... and so will I...  Great news!!!

A year is fine. They can put out a compilation, release the dvds and keep the fans happy. It's nice to know that the best IS yet to come, and she has so many more ambitions.

Maybe you don't know this Alex and everyone(or maybe you do :giggle: ) but about the Ziggy song, it's not so much about the fact that it was not a big hit in Québec for Céline but the rock opera Starmania from which it's from was created in Québec. So generations of singers sang those songs(included Ziggy). Céline's version was very well liked like every version of Starmania's song she did on Dion chante Plamondon but it's not even close to a song like L'Amour existe encore for Québec's people in Céline's repertoire. L'Amour existe encore is very much a classic for Céline here that makes people cry still and that every singers in Québec would have wanted to sing. Anyway I know I repeat myself here but nice to know Céline will rest and try to have a child as planned and still have many projects to come...

I'm aware of that, but thanks. :D

But you're right, not many Americans know about Starmania/Tycoon. When I lived in France everyone knew about it! Such a part of their cultural history.

He talks about the special show in Quebec City being uniquement in French

Does it mean that the Quebec 400th Anniversary concert will be entirely in French?!

L'amour existe encore belongs to her very very best songs. It will be surely sung live there. And 100% at that Quebec anniversary concert she is giving.

Celine will be great in Jazz/RNB music. Remember ''Le Ballet'' in the Live a Paris DVD ?

Maybe something was lost in our translation here. René never said they were working on a jazz cd AT ALL. The journalist only ask him if it was possible that Céline recorded kind of a concept cd in the future, something maybe not as commercial like....she has done in french and that it would be wonderful also to that in english. She said : I don't know a R&B or .....and René said or a jazz cd or something? Of course he said.

As for Le blues du businessman I don't think she will sing that in Montréal but maybe in her Québec all in french show because the original singer of this song Claude Dubois will be there with Céline. Pour L'amour existe encore, nous aurons la chance de l'entendre aux deux spectacles, à Montréal et à Québec aussi je crois.

I never said the Jazz cd was being worked on----I said it was being discussed (right at the end of the interview, right where it cut off). It was all speculation. Nothing is being worked on right now, they're dreaming of doing it.

I know and my post was not for you Alex, you did great in your translation. :thumbsup2: I just wanted to make clear that it was only mention as an example in case some thought that René is always saying that and it does not happen...he really didn't say they were working on that...Again maybe I misunderstood some assumptions that were posted :giggle:

Thanks for posting that Alex. I can't wait to see what she'll do in the future. A jazz album from Celine would be amazing. I know that she can do everything perfect. I hope that she considers acting and will be in one or two movies. :in_love:

There's some confusion I think. JJG nor Johnny Holliday are going to be the surprise guest in Céline's Québec show because this surprise guest is someone from Québec that should make Québécers happy. It's not about Céline's Taking Chances Montréal ones.

As for the Montréal ones, it's true we don't know the opening act either and René said it's also someone from Québec. A Gillett representative this week said in Journal de Montréal that it was 'un humoriste' a comedian apparently. Just wanted to clear up the confusion here and there about those two surprises. One is the opening act in Montréal and another one is an unknown guest on Céline' s Plains of Abraham show. :bye1:

Good show or shows for lucky Céline fans who will be there! :D
