Playback is one thing but to say that the poor child isn`t cute enough?? That`s dispeccable. What kind of an example is that for other kids? :nono:

well I think it's not the playbacking that is the issue, but more the fact that the orgininal singer wasn't allowed to 'perform', because of her bad teeth! aww that little girl needs to know about céline's life! :in_love: :laugh:

 

 

I dunno if it was mentioned before, but the fireworks were also partically fake! :sofunny:

I knew the beginning can't be all live, cause even helicopter and multi cams can't shoot all those fireworks so perfectly. But I see nothing wrong with it. When NBC delayed to broadcast it 12 hours later, they even did more edit than CCTV. So NBC is not that sacred either.

it's sadder cos I think the girl whose deemed not cute enough is still cute! and considering how much work was put into the show and all the talent involved, I'm quite sure they could've just found a girl they deemed both cute and talented *shrugs* no need for a faker. I think it might have to do with the fact that it seems the girl that was chosen to lip was already a semi-celeb that had appeared in the cute kid role in other events there.

 

however with that said I like how it was covered in that msn article, in terms of bringing it to light and acknowledging the girl - vs. a similar yahoo article which sensationalizes it as if it's part of a continual duping by the chinese that is on the par of murder.

oke manuel, this is getting serious...

 

I understand both sides of the coin. They wanted to present a picture perfect image, and they achieved that. The Beijing Opening Ceremonies was spectactular.

 

But to tell you the truth, as a general rule kids are considered cute anyways, crooked teeth and all and the actual singer would have been fine.

Plus they had to consider the health and safety of all those people at the stadium.

the lipsynching thing was cold but I don't give a rat's #ss about the "fake" fireworks. and no, not all of the fireworks were fake. I mean it's a SHOW of which tons of talent and hard work was poured into. both the audience at the stadium and the audience watching at home watched mostly the same show with a few alterations. they were both entertained as intended. o_o; people might as well start attacking magicians for being frauds or special effects in movies as being fraudulent Edited by Your_Su_Phu

For me the controversy doesn't lay on the fact they used playback... It's a big event. Everyone does so. The controversy for me is the fact that they tell a little child (the one with real talent) she isn't pretty enough to show on screen but she has a good enough voice for billions of people to listen; and switch her for a girl with the looks but no talent. That for me is ridiculous... Their children for God sake. The little child that sang the song isn't ugly... it's just a matter of taste. And so what if she's not that beautiful? She's still cute and has real talent.

 

It's like using Gisele Bündchen to lipsynch Céline songs because she's prettier....

Exactly, and then little girls grow up thinking that they have to have perfect bodies and hair and pearly white teeth. It's just a sterotypical image that is ingrained in their minds and it sucks. :nono: She was cute!!!!!

I'm upset with the fact that they told an innocent little girl oh you aren't cute enough to be seen by millions of people, so we are just using your voice and putting a cuter little girl in your place. How disrespectful is that, also why did't the little girl's parents, the little girl who sang but wasn't seen, why didn't they stop this? Did they know this was going to happen? Had I been her parent I would have told them find yourself another singer. That child was adorable and they had no reason to not let her be in front of those people and sing. :rant: The offical who made the little girl lip sync should be ashamed of himself. How dare he tell a child she's not cute.
