Black Kitten Posted August 9, 2008 at 02:12 PM Posted August 9, 2008 at 02:12 PM i've never watched the CBS special in its entirety until today. the lipsynching is absolutely sick, but when celine called Joe Walsh of the Eagles to accompany her in "Something", i was blown away and fell in love with celine's own rendition of the song. it's totally flawless from start to end and it was 100% LIVE! a simple song, with celine's beautiful voice against a guitar is just wonderful! sometimes i feel like i am tired of hearing her screaming her songs over and over, but this song solidified my admiration for her as a live performer! probably one of her dopest performances EVER! bear with me, i'm so in love with her version. Alex_Incognito Posted August 9, 2008 at 02:36 PM Posted August 9, 2008 at 02:36 PM "Something" definately was something special. What a magical moment in Celine's career. It would be a good decision to add it to the tour. Quote "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990
CellyDee87 Posted August 9, 2008 at 02:57 PM Posted August 9, 2008 at 02:57 PM Oh absolutely, Celine's rendition was just stunning It was really nice to see her so relaxed and comfortable with the song, just really at ease, completely suited her... Effortless and Perfect (in my opinion ) Quote
Nikosn17 Posted August 9, 2008 at 03:12 PM Posted August 9, 2008 at 03:12 PM That's my favorite part from the special. Great performance. Quote
Prince Whiskers Posted August 9, 2008 at 03:46 PM Posted August 9, 2008 at 03:46 PM Isn't the song widely thought to have been created for Pattie Boyd and not Olivia Arias? Quote http://cdn.webecoist.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/modern-pet-solo-blown-glass.jpg
charceline Posted August 9, 2008 at 03:47 PM Posted August 9, 2008 at 03:47 PM Mine to - I went onto Youtube so re watch it. I have since downloaded the Beatles version, but that's not as good as celines!!!! Quote
LVCeline Posted August 9, 2008 at 04:06 PM Posted August 9, 2008 at 04:06 PM For sure! I adore this song! If she did an entire concert of stuff like this I would simply melt and slurp away into the drains! Her voice is so lovely when she sings in a lower key Quote

GoldenLeaf Posted August 9, 2008 at 04:58 PM Posted August 9, 2008 at 04:58 PM Celine's unplugged rendition is gorgeous. Quote
SuperLove4Celine Posted August 9, 2008 at 05:08 PM Posted August 9, 2008 at 05:08 PM (edited) "Something" is definately a beautiful song. Celine did a great rendition of it. (Not a shock there, though.) One random fact about the performance is that the version seen on the CBS special is actually a second take. During the filming of the first take something went wrong which caused Celine and Joe Walsh to perform it again. There were quite a few filming troubles during that taping. It happened during "Eyes On Me," and "River Deep, Mountain High" as well - which was sad considering "River..." was the first song of the taping. It pretty much set the tone for things to come for the rest of the night. LOL - Joe Edited August 9, 2008 at 05:08 PM by JosephTNielsen Quote
smw Posted August 9, 2008 at 05:16 PM Posted August 9, 2008 at 05:16 PM Yeah - I've mentioned it before, "Something" should be one of the songs that replaces a lipped song from the tour. It is not vocally difficulty and it's stunning. Quote

Alex_Incognito Posted August 9, 2008 at 07:53 PM Posted August 9, 2008 at 07:53 PM This is the type of song Celine wants to sing. Remember what Rene said in FOR KEEPS? That she wants her English career to be about the lyrics and simple, like her French career. Not about hitting high notes. Quote "People pay 20-25 dollars to see you."- Céline Dion, 1990
SensationalCeline Posted August 10, 2008 at 01:36 AM Posted August 10, 2008 at 01:36 AM Yes, this was an absolutley stunning performance but words can go deeply beyond that. This is what made my mom like Celine, was when I recorded this on CBS and I watched it while it was recording, after it got done and the next day twice. I love this song. So beyond amazing when Celine sings it. It was like a beautiful dream. I would like to hear her song Drop by Drop that she wrote in a cab in England. SimplyCeline Posted August 10, 2008 at 10:55 PM Posted August 10, 2008 at 10:55 PM Going out on a limb clearly, but i really didnt like her version of "Something". I much prefer the version Shirley bassey does. Its got a good landscape to it, whereas Celine's for me was just a bit straight laced, which was disappointing cos it was the song i was most anticipating. Quote

A New Day Has Come Posted August 11, 2008 at 02:12 AM Posted August 11, 2008 at 02:12 AM It was absotly amazing and so beutiful I think Gorge Harison would have loud that rendition allot and Mrs. Henderson thought it was fantastic. Quote
Black Kitten Posted August 12, 2008 at 11:49 PM Author Posted August 12, 2008 at 11:49 PM i wonder if anybody also noticed her face during the CBS special? her face looks like she had a botox before the show. less wrinkles in her neck and she's a bit tanned. she's in really great shape during the whole show.
