Love, Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 (edited) I'm Cheering for the Sisters! So, all my friends have been excited to see either "The Dark Knight" or "Mamma Mia." As for me... the movie that I'm most excited to see is: "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2." YES, I'm a shameless lover of chick-flicks, tear-jerkers, romantic-comedies, and cheesy love stories! THERE, I SAY IT LOUD AND CLEAR! I know that on the day of the premiere (calendared at August 6th, 2008), I will be the only guy in the ocean of teenage girls and their mothers, but I DON'T CARE! Well, there will be some gorgeous college ladies there as well... but anyway! I fell in love with the film, with Carmen, Lena, Tibi and Bridget. I watched with a smile, lots of laughter, some tears, and full of inspiration. The pants are metaphoric and magical. I am enthralled by the story. Memorable moments of the first film were: the moonlight dinner on the boat with Lena and Costas; the extremely sad moment where Tibi is at the deathbed of her Leukemia-stricken friend Bailey; Bridget running on the beach and telling Eric why running is so important to her; and Carmen smashing the window of the "perfect" family of her runaway father. I'm excited to see what's in #2! View Trailer:Click Here Official Website:Click Here Edited August 7, 2008 by Love, Quote

ashleylovesceline Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I can't wait to see this -- I've read all four books. I hope I can see it before it comes out on DVD. Anyone seen it yet - was it as good as the first one? Quote
Love, Posted August 11, 2008 Author Posted August 11, 2008 (edited) UPDATE! I saw the film with my younger sister two nights ago. I've tried to keep in mind that the film was a light, comedic, and entertaining film. But in my work - where I do review and select countless films for my organization - sometimes the critic in me can be quite harsh and unforgiving. I must say that I was truly amazed by the first film.Although I did enjoy the second film, I must give it 6.77 on a scale of 10. Much of the film was rushed. They were working with four different stories in a two-hour frame - which normally is enough time for well-developed stories - yet the climaxes and the resolutions of each story were not thoroughly executed. I'm sure it was a challenge for the director to cut between different scenes of different stories. Yet, I knew the way the stories were depicted - showed the director and screenwriters as playing safe. There was so much power in the first film - compared to the second. Many parts of the film were so... predictable. During moments where I watched the film - I had already imagined the next scene - and amazingly, what I had imagined appeared on screen. In the meantime, they threw in several unnecessary conflicts and unnecessary roles that took away from the whole gist of the film, such as the addition of Lina's sister, or Carmen's exaggerated temper... Now, there were many things that are pluses for the film: They incorporated real-life themes, such as the scare of teenage pregnancy; the beautiful cinematography of Santorini, Greece, tying in romantic "moonlight scenes" and the majestic ending; the "destiny of the pants"; the reality of distance; AND the lover of the leading role (played by Amber Tamblyn) was an Asian actor, named Leonardo Nam. But overall, I'm glad I went to see the film.Perhaps, there might be a third one. For sure I'll be there to see that as well. Edited August 11, 2008 by Love, Quote

SensationalCeline Posted August 13, 2008 Posted August 13, 2008 I read the book to the first one and then saw the movie and I've read the second one so I want to go see that too. I kinda got tired of the first one because I had to do a book report on it and it was a lot of going back and forth to quote. I love the books though and the movies just bring them to reality. Love, Posted August 14, 2008 Author Posted August 14, 2008 My younger sister just informed me that "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants II" is actually books 2 to 4 combined! So, we will not see a third film. ...unless Ann Brashares decides to write a reunion novel. HAHA Quote
