But there is was one person at that opening ceremony that made history.....Natalie du Toit!!! Of course all South Africans know her remarkable story and I have followed her career very closely as she is one of the people I admire most in the world! The first amputee to compete in the Olympic Games! What a phenomenal achievement for Natalie and South Africa. I waited the entire day to see her carry our national flag into the Olympics, I was cheering and she hasnt even competed in her event yet! France almost had it but phelps was just phenominal. USA knocked the socks off SA. i'm sure SA thought they were invincible but sadly they only came in 7th.
