Sony buys ou Bertelsmann's half. Read about on Reuters and Market Watch I wonder if this will change their strategy and make them focus on the label's most preacious artists, like Celine. Edited by Teodora

I know it's happening. The bad thing is SONYBMG has about the same market share of SONY Music alone before they merged, instead SONY+BMG market share. They can't blame others though.

I want to believe that things will change for the better, because before they made this joint venture with BMG, Sony was actually paying attention to its biggest names. ANDHC, OH and 1 fille& 4 types were promoted rather well, and this was before BMG era, if I remember corectly. On the other hand, I guess the same people - more or less - will remain on key positions, so it makes me doubt they'll change anything. Even though they should, they reported $49 million losses for the first quarter of 2008.... That's bad! They say Usher's album was their best sold during this time... I didn't expect that. Leona and Neil Diamond come next. Edited by Teodora

That's my point. The pathetic promotional strategy started when they joined BMG. Maybe now, that they're parting, they'll start doing things right.

Usher? He didn't even reach platinum in the US.

But yeah, I don't think this dev't signals big changes, at least as far as Celine is concerned. Sony simply bought BMG's shares, which means that the likes of Alicia and Leona will still be getting the promo focus.

FIY and LTAL were both released before the merger. One heart was close to the merger and Taking Chances after. I'm not sure if it has so much to do with the company or the way the industry it's self is declining. I blame it all on itunes for letting people by single songs instead of whole albums for 99cents. Who know's this could be a good thing though.
