Edwin Posted August 13, 2008 at 07:55 PM Author Posted August 13, 2008 at 07:55 PM Yes, Edwin, she did mess up royally. Both on the balance beam (fell off when she first mounted) and on the floor exercise (she fell on her back and stepped out of bounds). All the American girls stepped out of bounds on the floor exercise, even Shawn Johnson, who had been so rock-steady during the other rotations. But at least they got the silver.Cripes and we were still able to pull a Silver?! Well, I guess that's lucky for us. I was really hoping for a gold though after China took Gold in Men's Gymnastics.

Yes, I agree. And they were only a little over one point behind China going into the last rotation. If China had faltered a little and the Americans had performed at the best level, they might have been able to pull it off. Plus, I don't think China is being completely truthful about how old the girls on their team are. They look 12, not 16-20 years old. Even Bela Karolyi said that one of them looks like she's missing a tooth, a "baby tooth" being the insinuation. There's an online article that talks about this very thing:Chinese gymnasts too young to know any better? But all 3 of the American girls really did not do well on the floor and Alicia REALLY tanked on the balance beam, so I guess it just wasn't in the cards. http://i86.photobucket.com/albums/k85/wolfepaw/Celine%20Dion/CelineTCinGermanySiglayerstrimmed.jpg

It is more blatant cheating than doping. It's a slap in the face to the whole world. Edwin Posted August 14, 2008 at 02:09 PM Author Posted August 14, 2008 at 02:09 PM (edited) Some of my toughest competition will come from my own team,” 16-year-old Shawn Johnson told TODAY co-host Meredith Vieira Tuesday. “I think it will be 1-2-3, red, white and blue on the podium. I hope so too Shawn. Team USA needs to redeem itself in Gymnastics. Good luck Edited August 14, 2008 at 02:10 PM by EdwinDeux

Edwin Posted August 14, 2008 at 03:31 PM Author Posted August 14, 2008 at 03:31 PM That is true Bellamy. You don't look 27 yourself, lol. Until there is proof otherwise, I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt. This reminds me of the Speedo suit 'controversy'. We are quick to try to blame someone or something. Sometimes we just aren't as good as we thought, and the better person wins.

celine_dion_fan Posted August 14, 2008 at 08:52 PM Posted August 14, 2008 at 08:52 PM okay here is my take on the age issue. I believe that the chinese girls did a wonderful job. Even if they are 13 or 14 they did better then the Americans. HOWEVER... there are rules that have to be followed. Having someone that is below the age of 16 is cheating !! I'm sorry, but some of those girls do not look 16. http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/beijing/g...p&type=lgns this just came out. O OH !! btw- I am a U.S.A supporter. But that lil Chinese gymnast... the one that lost her tooth. Is my favorite. She so adorable and incredible !
DianaLuts Posted August 15, 2008 at 02:22 AM Posted August 15, 2008 at 02:22 AM Rebecca Soni won Gold in 200 breaststroke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She so adorable and incredible ! people have to be very very careful about this "lost tooth" issue. it's not her baby teeth that she has lost. by the age of 13 she would have all front permanents. she could have had her tooth knocked out while practising for something. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v158/Duchess_Nicol/flower20cropped.jpg

Edwin Posted August 20, 2008 at 03:47 AM Author Posted August 20, 2008 at 03:47 AM I would have preferred two more golds in gymanstics (team and uneven bars), but our women's gymnastic did medal more than the host nation. I KNOW we will get all the gold we deserve in London.
