On the subject of DVD's...I wonder why my DVD of Au Coeur Du Stade that I got in Vegas, will only play in my laptop? If I put it in a regular DVD player, it doesn't work I think I might know why. There are some DVD's that will only play on European DVD players. There is some sort of three letter code (I forget which) that denotes that certain DVD's will only play on these players.Since that is a French DVD it would not surprise me. Look in the booklet for that code. Your laptop must have the decoder to be able to play it. I'm sure Koolan or Bellamy could answer this better than me.

My DVD player wouldn't play DVDs from other countries either, so the guy from the DVD store told me to hack into it....basically you Google the name/brand/model of your DVD player and the words "region free." I know it doesn't work for all players, but it did for mine, so maybe it will for others? It gave me a bunch of instructions, and all I had to do was press a few buttons, and now it plays all DVDs.

I'm not great at explaining this, but I'll try. All DVDs have a region number. When DVD players are made, they are usually programmed to only play DVDs with one particular region number. For example, American DVDs are region 1, so American DVD players are made to play region 1 DVDs, and not allow the DVDs of all other regions to play. When you hack into it, basically you're changing the settings of the player, and changing the players region code to "Region 0", which makes it able to play DVDs from all regions. You can't do it with all DVD players, but with mine it was fairly easy, I just had to press a few buttons, open the tray and close it again, and it was done. So you'd have to Google the type of player you have and see if it's possible for yours. The other thing to consider is whether your DVD is Ntsc or Pal (It should say on the cover), and whether your player can play one or both of those formats.
