2008 Faces of Hope

Celine is taking part in a special humanitarian project entitled "2008 Faces of Hope," which aims to raise funds for children in need around the world. For this project, Celine met with children from around the world in Montreal, Canada earlier this week for a photoshoot with renowned photographer Heidi Hollinger. These children are alive today thanks to a miracle; some were saved by medical breakthroughs, some by miracles of nature and some by the incredible acts of good Samaritans. Three amazing fundraising items will be created from these photographs; a book about the miracle children, a family calendar and a series of greeting cards. All proceeds from these items will be donated to the Sainte-Justine Hospital in Montreal, Canada, the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada as well as UNICEF! All I can tell you about our photo shoot with Celine is she is a wonderful, kind and patient lady.

 

Miles' story was chosen for the book/calendar because he is a heart transplant recipient. He was kept alive on a machine called the Berlin Heart for 55 days before his transplant. He was only the third person in the U.S. to have been placed on the Berlin Heart and he was the youngest at the time, only four months old.

 

Miles also has autism, making the photo shoot very difficult. The lights and flashes and people troubled Miles. He refused to sit still. For more than a half an hour Celine remained calm and engaged with Miles and didn’t seem bothered by the flying objects and unrecognizable high pitched noised he was making. It is clear she loves children.

 

Also, Miles is the boy with darker hair in the video. For some reason Matthew, his older brothers’, picture is the icon for the clip.
