The worst thing a teenager can do?

Recommended Posts

Posted

I haven't been through alot at all.

I've partied, been in relationships which where special at the time. Nothing too big.

Anyway, you are only one year younger than me, so you should understand what I'm trying to say.

Maybe things are different where you are growing up, but I enjoy having fun on my days off, being with my friends - be that at the cinema, restaurant or in a club.

:)

Ok. I have a question, just out of curiosity.... You say you think all that stuff is fine, and not at all bad. But if you had a teenage child, do you think you'd feel differently? Or would you be fine with them doing all that stuff?

I have a little brother, who is 13 and looks about 19 - which is scary, but I want him to experience things when he is old enough and ready.

Not drugs obviously.

But never did I say that stuff was "right", I was just trying to express - what is "normal" for a teenager?

Everyone has different experiences as they are growing up.

EDIT: Thats also what I am trying to express, I am only 19, I am saying things from MY opinion, not from someone older on this forum

same here. tell me, i wanna know...

do you think you'll be fine if your child reaches 16 and he/she'll engage him/herself in sex most especially? :innocent: i mean, i'm turning 22 this december, but i still don't feel the need for sex or anything that would get me in trouble. i can enjoy life without sex (for a moment, im still young!) and smoking. thank God i have a really great pair of parents who taught me what life is all about. :)

Instead bad healt I stay healthy and sporty :thumbsup2: Of cours some late nights doesn't bother me

I find that really offensive. I have a "great pair parents" too.

I have just experienced different things from what you have, when I said "smoked weed", I tried it once when I was about 15, and If I caught my brother doing it then I would go mad.

And 16 is legal, obviously no parent wants their child to have sex, at any age! But like I said in my previous post - I'm not a parent yet (which by the sounds of you all, think I should be seeing as I've had sex in the past- and being a "teenager" I must not be responsible) So I will take action when needs be.

When the time comes, I would like to tell my children about my childhood/teenage years, and teach them right and wrong, so hopefully they won't feel the need to experiment.

I am 17, and I LOVE this thread. The truth is, nowadays, kids just walk right over their parents. It almost seems like parents have no idea how to parent anymore. Punishment has been literally banned in the US. FYI - I have never done any of these things in my life, and will NEVER drink, smoke or do drugs EVER, and I mean it. :D

I've have parents and love me very much but I think having unprotected sex is wrong but that is just my opinion. Also having unprotected sex it's like your sleeping with somones wife /husband how would you feel if you found out that your wife/husband had sex with someone I mean would you feel hurt or extremely happy that your husband/ wife did it I mean serously. I had a frined you got pregnent and she kept and it ruin her relationship with her ex boyfriend. I just think save it for marrieage and be happy that you did. But I think partying and drinking is find. but not to the exstent of pucking your brains out or until you pass out or driving drunk is not a good idea at all trust me.  :nono: Edited by A New Day Has Come

suicide is the worst

i understand many teenagers that have problems in school, and/or at home turn to acting out to deal with those problems, but then there are those stupid ones who just try to do be cool then follow peer pressure, and its all down hill

im 16 and i know better than to do all those teen stupidities, if you are well behaved then you are well rewarded :D, screw what other people say.

This is getting controversial LOL, I don't even know what to reply to.

I guess it depends what you define as "normal", rather than "bad." Does normal mean it's ok to do something? Or does it mean that most people do it? Or does it mean something else?

I don't know. But I think that the reason most people consider these things "bad", is not because they want a reason to judge others, but because they know doing these things could seriously hurt you, or other people. Is it normal, or even ok, to drink until you end up in hospital? To be pregnant at 15? To die of a drug overdose?

I'm 21, I've never had sex, done drugs, been drunk, or anything like that. But I still have fun, and a good life. I think I have more fun than my friends who wake up with handgovers, anyway haha! I also keep thinking though, that if I have a daughter one day, I want to be able to honestly say to her that I didn't do those things, when I ask her not to do them.

Btw I agree that suicide is much, much worse, but I've always thought of that as being more related to mental illness, rather than bad or stupid choices someone makes. That's why I didn't say it before.

Normal for me is - things that many teenagers do today that can be good or bad. In the tense I wrote before, those were Bad normal things, sleeping is a good normal thing (although not many teenagers get much sleep anymore now either  ) It's not like people back in the 60's and 70's didn't do this, but it has gotten a lot worse. I can never figure it out, I HAVE thought about it before, but never can find out why. But my best guess is what I said before, Parents No. 1 and Media No. 2

I think we are going to have to agree to disagree -

I feel that people are attacking me, and trying to imply my parents are bad parents, and that I "went off the rails".

I am only 19!! I enjoy going out, and I have NEVER been hospitalised for drinking, or had unprotected sex, or "walked all over my parents".

In my opinion, "normal" is whatever anyone wants to define it as, in their own life. I am working, going to go to Uni in septemeber and every now and then go to church. I don't see that I have "gone off the rails".

The worst thing a teenager can do cannot be chosen in a forum, too many people have different ideas of what is "bad".

Why not start a thread on, "the worst thing an adult can do", or "The worst thing a child can do"...?!

It's pretty clear that the overview of this is pretty much the UK versus the rest of the world.

I happen to agree and can relate to everything Carla has said.

I guess it is just a difference of cultures.

Hey.. No one is attacking you. I do agree with a lot of things you say but I'm also a bit disagree. I'm sure u have some great parents and I'm feelin it weird why "the parents" came into the picture  You're not only 19, but ur becoming an adult... A lot of responsebility, hard choices and good and bad times. If you feel u have everything under control, then there's not a problem... :thumbsup2:

We're not attacking you. Just discussing. It's fine to disagree.
