Paul Mccartney-Celine Dion Concert Feud Ends In A Tie

By: Howie Edelson

A clash between Celine Dion's management and Paul McCartney was narrowly avoided after it was revealed that McCartney's upcoming concert in Quebec City would seat 150,000 more audience members than Montreal native Celine Dion's show.

The Montreal Gazette reported that Dion's husband-manager Rene Angelil objected that McCartney's free concert, set for July 20th to celebrate Quebec's 400th birthday, would seat 250,000, as opposed to Dion's show on August 22nd which would only seat 100,000.

In a compromise the celebration planners have called a tie, which will ultimately result in both shows fitting 200,000 audience members onto the grounds at Quebec City's Plains of Abraham.

In other Beatles-related news:

Today (July 10th) marks the first official Beatles Day in the Fab Four's hometown of Liverpool which will feature a number of tribute bands and fan activity all over the city.

The Liverpool Echo reported that hometown rockers the Swinging Blue Jeans will perform during the festivities at one of the many concert stages set up all over Liverpool. The Swinging Blue Jeans, who were contemporaries of the Beatles in the early 1960s, played numerous gigs with the band, including those at the legendary Cavern Club.

In 1964, the Swinging Blue Jeans note-for-note cover of the Beatles'club rendition of Chan Romero's "The Hippy Hippy Shake" became a Top 30 U.S. hit.

Although the Beatles never officially recorded the song in the studio, live versions have appeared on their 1977 album Live At The Star Club, 1962 and 1994's Live At The BBC.

During Paul McCartney's concert in Liverpool last month, he reclaimed the song by opening his first hometown concert in five years with "The Hippy Hippy Shake" -- 45 years since last performing the song live.

Whoa check that out! Paul thought that he could surpass Queen Céline? BAHAHAHA! Ofcourse I loove Paul McCartney, along with The Beatles. But he should have known that he could never beat her when it comes to how many people would attend.

The really funny part is that he ALMOST won! :funny:

Yikes.

Oh well in the end they both got a reasonable amount of seating.

DO NOT STEAL MY SIGNATURE

"It's hard in a recording studio, because I'm infront of a microphone, I have to imagine all of you and then I'm able to sing the songs for you...Now I'm still infront of a microphone, with all of you right infront of me, to see all of your faces, That's why I still do it!" (wild applause) thankyou for the flowers - Celine after a flower moment 9-22-08
