Who says Celine can't handle RNB?

:whistling: :whistling:

If that were the case, she would have a music video with a Filipino pizza boy in there! :P

I think that could have been a smart move to help market the album better, releasing GTSW just helped to solidify the stereotype of Celine being a "cheesy" singer. My vote still goes to Sorry For Love

sorry for love is cheesy too :whistling: besides it was a winter single they should have released I surrender or Have you ever been in love, even super love just not Goodbye's :P

I don't like Super Love is one of my least favorites of that album, with Rain Tax.

same here. never liked Super Love. i think it is one of the most unnecessary songs in here, together with Rain Tax. i'll be fine if i'll never hear this song in my entire life again.

I love both Super Love and Goodbye's :)

But what if more singles released for "A New Day Has Come" album...

Super Love, Sorry For Love, I Surrender, Rain Tax, Ten Days...

Oh, god, anything would've been a better release than Goodbye's(The Saddest Word). I think this is where the crappy single choices for Celine albums started. It's a great song, and has an amazing video, but releasing it as a single was a huge mistake. The song did nothing to help her, it just helped the public think of her even more as the "cheesy ballad singer". Something like Sorry For Love or When The Wrong One Loves You Right would've been better. Super Love wouldn't have been a bad choice, either. I like the song, it's very R&B and fresh sounding. Still, I don't think it would've be strong enough to give Celine another Top 10 hit, but it would've been better than freaking GTSW..... Edited by Lymon

I actually like Super Love :P

"...It's the circle of life. You gotta look forward. Two days during the year there's nothing you can do about: yesterday and tomorrow. Today is a great day." - Celine Dion, People.

Well actually GBTSW was not a good choice for a single, the song is great but is not single material, Sorry for love would have been better.

If ''super love'' was released instead of GTSW ... I wouldn't have been a fan of Celine now. Edited by Nikosn17

I like GTSW as a song, it's very powerful and emotional, but I agree it's no good for a single. In my opionon they should have released When The Wrong One Loves You Right or even Coulda Woulda Shoulda! I don't really like Sorry For Love, and I hate Super Love!! Edited by ShuttleDiscovery

that's true, goodbye's was definitely not a good song for a single! i don't even know if it's ever been played on swiss radio! i don't think so! and besides, it always makes me sad when i listen to the lyrics!

and: i like the video, but definitely not to that song! i mean, there was even a version of it in which céline was naked in the bathroom! if you listen to the lyrics, that definitely doesn't fit! she could do a video like this to a funny or sexy song... but to this on: no way!

and i'd prefered "rain, tax" too, i like that song and it would have been good for the radio too!

I love Goodbye's the Saddest Word, the can get rid of Have You Ever Been In Love or Nature Boy
Thanks Celine for the great memories. I will never forget you

I adoooore Superlove and I adooore Goodbye's... But as a single, I think Superlove would have been the better choice. Goodbye's isn't what I'd really call millenium single material. :giggle:

I agree whole-heartedly that "Super Love" or another upbeat track from A New Day Has Come should have been released as a single instead of "Goodbye's (The Saddest Word)." I love what Mutt did to the song, but as for radio material - nope. Yes, it got me crying at the CBS television taping, but that still doesn't mean it should have been a single.

As for why "Goodbye's (The Saddest Word)" was picked as a single I only have a few possible explainations:

1) It was a dedication, verbally said or not, to her mother. I believe Celine loved the song (hence why she recorded it) and wanted it to be shared with other children of the world. (Thinks of "If I Could" now.)

2) When A New Day Has Come was released TeamCeline ran a contest asking fans which song should be the next single after "I'm Alive." The person who won that contest may have picked "Goodbye's (The Saddest Word)" for certain reasons and thus caused it to become a single. Now, I'd like to think that Sony wouldn't pick a single strictly based off of one random fan's contest entry, but with Sony who really knows anymore?

3) Nobody was thinking or cared because Celine was centering herself on A New Day....

That's my two cents. :thumbsup2:

eeh, GTSW was not exactly the best choice, but I don't think Superlove would have done much better (even though I really like the track). When the Wrong One Loves You Right of Sorry for Love had potential, but i think I'll be sour forever over the missed opportunity of I Surrender.

. . .Live to Love Celine Dion <3

wait a minute, i guess Super Love isn't a wordwide track? it was not included in american version of ANDHC. :innocent: so it's pretty impossible to release it as an official single. (take Your Light as an example).

This isn't exactly true. "Just Walk Away" was released as a single in Europe (Spain, I believe), yet it wasn't included on the American version of The Colour Of My Love. Also, "Be The Man (On This Night)" was released as an official single in Asian territories and ended up becoming successful. The track is even included on Japan's edition of All The Way...A Decade Of Song.

Do I believe "Super Love" would have went to #1? No. However, it would have gone MUCH higher in the charts than "Goodbye's (The Saddest Word)." It has a catchy beat and an amazing bridge...

Gimme, gimme, gimme some of that super love!

Gimme, gimme, gimme some of that super love!

Gimme, gimme, gimme some of that super love!

Super love!

Super love, baby!

Can we say a prediction into one of Britney's hit tracks?

Celine can do handle RnB. Remember she did some RnB beat in "The woman in me" Television (CBS). It is soooo amazing indeed. ;)

gotcha joe, but i'm talking about Super Love as a "worldwide" single. Be The Man and Just Walk Away was released only to the countries where that song was included in their version of their respective albums (LTAL & TCOML). :flowers:

2002 was the perfect time for the "taking chances" concept. The GENERAL public would've given her the chance w/ this song and WTWOLYR.
