Bralo20 Posted June 25, 2008 at 09:10 PM Posted June 25, 2008 at 09:10 PM We have allready a worst cover version topic, but what about the covers who are actually better than the orignal ones? Let me start with a cover performed by Céline: Drove all night was originally recorded by Roy Orbinson who unfortunately died before the song was released. I think that the cover is better than the original song by Roy. Quote ...
SensationalCeline Posted June 25, 2008 at 09:38 PM Posted June 25, 2008 at 09:38 PM I like the cover of When I Need You which was originally done by Leo Sayer. Quote http://i250.photobucket.com/albums/gg280/spoiledrottenbrat4063/Celine%20Dion/CELINESIGGY.jpg
Davey84 Posted June 25, 2008 at 09:52 PM Posted June 25, 2008 at 09:52 PM (edited) IDAN is also better then Cyndi laupers version LOL Oke it's lame but i'll mention then anywayz: IACBTMN, TPOL, ABM, IWCT, RDMH (especially live), LOLall these songs Céline made her own! and hmm non-céline, I'll have to think about that! LOL oh at least Sandi Thom's live cover of Crazy by CHarles Barkly or whatever his name is! It's sooo good! also Whitney's IWALY made Dolly's version tremble! dirrtydavid Posted June 26, 2008 at 01:23 AM Posted June 26, 2008 at 01:23 AM On a technicality Cyndi Lauper was the original IDAN as she released her version before Orbison. Out of them all i have to say i prefer Cyndi's version best, although i love Celine's dancier version. So if i had a choice it'd be Cyndi, but if i was in a club Celine.... I also prefer Dolly's version of IWALY, more depth to it. It seems more emotional and in the moment, whereas Whitney's it's obvious it's been marked out where she's gonna belt a note etc if ya get me.... Staying with Dolly, i've loved her covers of Balls Of Fire and Downtown. Downtown being a recent one i've gotten into.... Quote
Allie Posted June 26, 2008 at 01:26 AM Posted June 26, 2008 at 01:26 AM I'm probably a bit biased, but I much prefer the Reba McEntire/Kelly Clarkson version of "Because Of You" to Kelly's original. I love the original so much, but Reba adds so much to the song. Quote
