If Celine was just starting out today

What do you think the reaction to Celine would be if she was just starting out in the music buisness today?

 

Not at the age she is now but say she was like 16 or 17?

 

It would be so interesting to know if she would be 'accepted' if you see what I mean

I think she would have succeed. She has such an amazing, angelic voice that I think it's hard not to like her .

And she has an amazing personality .

I think that who born today came to the 'crap' music... I she will do this crap she will do well, if not, I think it would be a while to try to be famous and have a phenomenal career like now.

She would go straight to the AC charts, and would do fairly well, according with today's figures about sales.

I mean, CDs are not selling that well nowadays, we know that, and having an album to sell over 4 million copies last year (like Josh had) is amazing

She probably would have a hard time with album sales because of downloading like CelineDionFREEK said, but with her voice, she would definitley succeed in today's business. can't imagine celine hooking up with timbaland or JD and do some "oohh uuhhh" in her songs. celine's a real talent and she obviously don't need them to succeed. talking about her if she's just starting out today, i don't think she'll succeed either. her genre is so out of the picture in todays music (i don't know if you are talking about changing her style, but im talking about her AC genre).

I agree with you on that there is such a HUGE stigma around her and My Heart Will Go On, people need to get over it already.

 

However I think that had she have started out today her voice would have gone to waste. The magnificent instrument she has would have been wasted on hip-hop "apple-bottom jeans, touch my body, loosen up my buttons" cr@p ! I'm so thankful she started out when she did and that she's been able to use her voice in some of the most powerful songs ever. I'm glad that as a fan I've been able to watch her evolve with her music and if she doesn't pick up any new fans along the way or number one hits... who cares!? I'll always be along for the ride

she only became weird with superstardom; she was quite normal back them, or at least they were taking care of her image a lot better. Also she would surely be working with current producers nowadays, it's not like she would release UNISON in 2008, so if the music was right, I guess she'd definately still make it. She's never had a particular style if you ask me, she's gone with the flow of the music industry, and AC is was cashed in the most for her, I guess. yeah I agree with what you said.

 

I think that she would have a slight struggle, and music today isn't really like hers. Music has been sort of taken over by rap and hip hop and RMB and I think it would really be hard to break through all that and cell a lot. Her songs are more meaningful then some out there and people like us appreciate it and others just prefer a up beat tempo.... But she HAS the VOICE and she could be successful but I think it definitely would be hard in this day and age.

Celine has a beautiful voice, but she would be singing different styles than she does at the moment and I dont think it would suit her. I am glad that I have been a fan for 16years and I will carry on being a fan of Celine's forever.

Lol, I love her but to be honest I dont think that she would do too well in the music industry today. The only way she would fit into the charts would be if she was singing the rubbish that is the music business. If she didnt get a name for herself all those years ago then she wouldnt be in the charts today. She sanf the right stuff at the right time...If it was done any other way then it just wouldnt be the same and I personally think that she wouldnt be as famous or as loved as she is today...Even though we all know she has the best voice she would either be singing rubbish remixed stuff to try and get herself noticed or be singing the great stuff she sung back then...the classics...and wouldnt get noticed.

 

It's a shame that talent isnt taken seriously today.

 

But we all know she is where she is today because of the way the music industry ONCED worked. Nowadays the music that is in the charts has got nothing to do with talent.

i think it would be much harder for her to be as successful as she is now and i dont think she would have sold so many albums but the same can be said for mariah/whitney who all started out in the 80s/early 90s.

i would like to think that she would still be as successful because she has the best voice in the world and its supposed to be about talent but looking at the crap that is in the charts today, people with no musical talent and all the reality shows that churn out "stars" (there are exceptions), i think it would be much harder for her!

I think if Céline started today, she would be known in French speaking parts, and by people crazy with french music, as that girl with an amazing voice, doing 'soft' rock à la Gerald De Palmas, Calegero etc. She'd have her own hardcore fanbase.... writes her own songs, plays the piano and guitare and gives her all on stage while she performs in little theaters and festivals...

 

No international carreer

No enormous stardome

No vegas run

 

But a happy life with kids by the time she's 30... a loving family that supports her and a fantastic, but small scale carreer
