amyja89 Posted June 13, 2008 at 08:44 PM Posted June 13, 2008 at 08:44 PM We all know what Celine's views must be ( ), but how do you feel about significant age gaps between two people in a relationship? Personally I don't have a problem and infact I prefer to be with a man older than me, my last boyfriend was 10 years older than me, and the one before that 6 years older. Age shouldn't be an issue of you love the person! To quote Aaliyah, "age ain't nothin' but a number"! Quote

Angel, You thrill me Posted June 13, 2008 at 09:25 PM Posted June 13, 2008 at 09:25 PM (edited) 10 years is ok, but pushing on 20, yeah thats when it starts to get into the realm of creepy, for me at least. but hey if you really love the person and they really love you, then what the hell go for it. Personally I don't have a problem and infact I prefer to be with a man older than me, my last boyfriend was 10 years older than me, and the one before that 6 years older. Well, maybe thea ge gap was the main reason those two relationships didn't work. Have you thought about that?Personally, I believe that the age difference can be "fun" and no problem, when YOU are young, like 25 and 50 or something, but in some years, that same person would be OLD (and I mean old) and there will be many things you won't be able to do with him/her...besides, there's the children issue. It's not fair to give your children a grandpa instead of a daddy Anyway, i haven't fallen for an older guy, but iI guess you can't decide that, you can¡t control your heart when he falls in love besiss Quote

sgcpc Posted June 13, 2008 at 11:46 PM Posted June 13, 2008 at 11:46 PM yeah sometimes it do worry me like when im 30, he will be 47, which mean when he is 50, im only 33. But... u know just enjoy life!!! Its not easy to find someone you love, its rare! Quote
abbie Posted June 14, 2008 at 12:10 AM Posted June 14, 2008 at 12:10 AM (edited) i don't think age in itself is an issue. it can bring about certain difficulties just in the sense that you and your partner will be at different emotional stages of your life. but that doesn't mean it won't work. and there are other complications with dating someone your same age which aren't an issue with someone older. i think every relationship has its pros and cons, and age isn't really anything that should be too much of a consideration. my first love was 18 years older than me...altho nothing ever happened there. and my last two relationships have both been 7 years older than me. i think it depends what personality you are attracted to, irrelevant of age, gender, race etc. Edited June 14, 2008 at 12:10 AM by abbie Quote My world is a better place because of you...
CellyDee87 Posted June 14, 2008 at 12:21 AM Posted June 14, 2008 at 12:21 AM I think it's ok providing both partners are in it for the right reasons, not to take advantage of another, gold-digging etc. If it's a genuine love for the right reasons it's ok. For example and people don't go crazy on me here because Celine was so young when she and Rene met, we know what was running through Celine's mind at this point , but we'll never really know about Rene's initial thoughts, thankfully nothing ever happened until she was a consenting adult but who knows what was going on in the mind of Rene given the fact the Celine was always very mature... So yeah I think it's ok if both parties are consenting and understanding. I myself prefer older men because of their maturity... Quote
scorp82 Posted June 14, 2008 at 03:32 AM Posted June 14, 2008 at 03:32 AM As long as both parties are very mature and are emotionally ready to handle an age gap, then age should not really matter in a relationship. As such, both individuals must be ready to assert that there will be great differences in opinion and preferences, but again, if two people are in love and are willing to communicate, such issues should then be minimal. In fact, my first love was 10 years older than me. Since then, the people that I have dated have been between 8-15 years older than me. I really do not have a preference of dating someone older than me, but it has just happened that way. One thing I have learned is: Older does not mean more mature! In some instances, I have turned out to be the mature party! And I'm only 25! Quote
Jacqui Posted June 14, 2008 at 03:47 AM Posted June 14, 2008 at 03:47 AM I have no problem with it at all If you're in love, and you want to be together, who cares about age. I've never been in a relationship with someone significantly older than me, but I could definitely see it happening hehe. Quote

marckvls Posted June 14, 2008 at 11:41 PM Posted June 14, 2008 at 11:41 PM Well.. In my humble opinion I think it's okay to date someone older.. BUT I think there are some limits. Ok, you can date who you want, but imagine you young and your boyfriend an elderly! I like guys about 10 y older than me, 15 would me the maximum. Quote Love comes to those who believe it...

moorhunhe Posted June 16, 2008 at 01:20 PM Posted June 16, 2008 at 01:20 PM (edited) Depends on I guess ... I do think there must be a line drawn somewhere (but I think more depending on how old your are) My ex-boyfriend was 11 years older then me.We were together for 5,5 years. You didn't notice, we got a long so great. But I was "just" 17 when I met him (he was 28). And we wanted different things. When I was around 21 - 22, he was already for kids, I wasn't.Mainly that, which caused problems. He broke up with me for a woman with 3 kids, so now he has them, he's happy (I hope not though *evil*). Then I was like: no more older men for me.Not that I pick them, it just happened, haha, but I thought from now on, I was gonna pay attention to it.'Cause I didn't want the same problems popping up again. So I was like: no boy older then 6 years older then me. And now look, my new boyfriend is 8 years older then me, haha.I'm 24 now, and he is 32. I don't think, that if my 14/15/16/17 year old daughter/son would come home with someone who's like 10 years older, I would approve of it.But then mainly, because the older you get, you want different things in life. And I wouldn't want my kids (or anyone else for that matter) to go through the same thing as I went through."Just because" my other half wanted kids, and I wasn't ready yet, being 1 of the major reasons to break up. We had time ... but I guess he didn't anymore. --------------- But that's just my opinion on it. It might change, once a situation would come up again. You never know how things turn out. To those where it did work out, awesome ! Edited June 16, 2008 at 01:22 PM by moorhunhe Quote
