A very clever touring idea Rene should think about

So I was browsing the Australian ticketing site for upcoming concerts and I read this...

If this wasn't enough ticket buyers will have the opportunity to choose the band's set list by voting for their favourite songs online, bringing about another layer of interactivity for the audience as they get to hone the bands acoustic and electric sets. This really is the definitive Powderfinger concert experience.

 

THE FANS GET TO CHOOSE THE SETLIST FOR THE CONCERT!

 

I thought this was an absolutely brilliant idea that a group is ready and willing to please the fans to such an extent.

 

This was be so fantastic if Rene and Company considered something like this for Celine's world tour. Not for the fans to dictate the whole setlist but at least have a little say, we could have had the chance to vote and and express maybe what we've been missing out on and what we love from Taking Chances. Even if this was available to TeamCeline members I think it would be such a bonus

 

I think this is a fantastic move by the group and only hope that more artists take this kind of approach in the future as it would please fans immensely.

also most of these thousands of people that go to her concert are not really die hard fans and want to hear her old stuff,

and probably wouldn't even vote for favorite songs

I think that if it was an Intimate, fan-club only concert that that would be a magical experience, and then make the concert available as maybe a TV special or just DVD.

I think it's great even to let management know which songs the countries like, I was disappointed when Australia didn't get Think Twice I think they may be under the impression that the song is only liked by the Brits. And just the way everybody has been pleading for Fade Away. And personally I think Can't Fight the Feeling should be kept in the set list permanently it's catchy and likable. The fans are the ones that allow her to do this tour it would be fantastic to just have a little say for future tours/shows.

If such petition ever reaches Rene, it is something they could consider doing. Given that other artists have done similar things in the past, I am sure the concept is not foreign to Rene or Celine and if they have not chosen to do it is because maybe the idea is not appealing to them.

 

Now, if they ever do something like that, I think the songs chosen by fans should be limited to only a part of the setlist. I know many people in here have suggested that songs such has TPOL/BYLM/IACBTMN/TLYM/MHWGO should be removed from Celine's setlists, but as we know, those are Celine's classic songs which will always be performed by Celine anywhere. Even then, I don't think Celine will want to part with the songs. However, I do think that songs such as Fade Away, Can't Fight the Feelin', and That's Just the Woman in Me should be kept on the setlist on a more regular basis.

 

I also think that The Prayer seems to be a better option than performing A New Day Has Come or That's the Way It Is, as much as I like those songs.

 

In fact, for the U.S. concerts, I think Celine should also sing Think Twice, even if the song was not entirely popular in the U.S. Celine's U.S. fans (and many of the younger fans, those in their late teens and early 20s and so on) are also aware of that song and seem to enjoy it. Including the song in the U.S. setlist would not be a bad marketing idea as if Celine sings the song on tour, certains fans may be interested in purchasing Celine's earlier material, boosting Celine's sales somewhat. Additionally, Celine could also sing a shortened version (like IACBTMN or TLYM) of Where Does My Heart Beat Now, as this was the English language song that allowed Celine to become well-known in the U.S.

If I am not mistaken, Think Twice was performed in the Brisbane concert, no? I believe I read somewhere on the forum that Celine performed the song in Brisbane only.

 

Think Twice was also performed in Malaysia. I was surprised it wasn't performed in all the Australian concerts.

Well yeah the example I mentioned above was a poll. I think something like this could be useful seeing as Taking Chances hasn't had any hit singles they could get an understanding of what exactly the fans enjoyed from the new album what they respond to and what they don't like. Of course they would always have the final say but I think because none of the singles have "made it" the fans are the only basis here. Maybe explains why CFTF, FA, SFY and others keep circulating the set lists rather than having a permanent spot as they are maybe waiting for audience response from country to country to see how they fare. I think this option is easier, but that's just my opinion I doubt we'll see anything like this ever happen though, hopefully one day they'll get it right.

it's such a shame the price went up from $25 a year or $40 2 years went up to 40 dollars EACH year!! with no extra stuff... no meet and greets no nothing and a limited of 2 tickets per tour!

I think some fan input on the the tour would be great. Not disrespecting anyone who 'kinda likes her' but the majority of people here would go to the ends of the earth to have the opportunity to be involved somehow in the show. There's a lot of songs - A cause being one that I would love - that die hards would love to see performed live.....I'm not knocking Celine, Rene or anyone, but there is a large proportion of us that have been to more than one concert and would love to see some variety rather than the same songs at every show, much as we love the classics. I'm sure that Celine wouldn't mind a bit of variety either...

 

As for team celine - doesn't feel much like a team to me.
