Well, since some of my other favorite shows started to get threads, I decided we needed one for one of the funniest sitcoms ever! The Golden Girls! You know them: Dorothy, Blanche, Sophia and Rose! You've "Pictured This" and gone Back To St. Olaf many times. Who was your favorite character? Any episodes stand out? What funny lines make you laugh over and over?

 

Well, my favorite character is Dorothy. Sarcastic and to the point Dorothy My alltime favorite episode is Grab That Dough. The final scene where Blanche and Dorothy win a friggin skillet kills me each time I see it! And let's see way too many lines to think of. I'll add more as hopefully more people reply in here .

 

Dorothy: Ma, what are you doing?

 

Sophia: Filling sandbags, Dorothy, there's a hurricane a-coming!

 

Dorothy: A-coming?!

 

Sophia: That's right. People only use the 'a' when a really big storm is a-coming or a-brewing, so grab a sack and start a-shoveling!

 

Dorothy: Ma, there is no hurricane a-coming.

 

Sophia: Don't patronize me!

 

Dorothy: I'm not patronizing you, I'm a-mocking you!

Blanche: What’s funny about that?

 

Sophia: You aren’t surprised?

 

Blanche: Of course not. I mean I’ve never known any personally, but isn’t Danny Thomas one?

 

Dorothy: Not Lebanese, Blanche. Lesbian.

Dorothy: Yes, and that's not all...

 

Sophia: Jean thinks she's in love with Rose!

 

Blanche: Rose! Jean has the hots for Rose? I don't believe this, I don't believe this!

 

Dorothy: We were surprised, too.

 

Blanche: Well, I'll bet. To think Jean would prefer Rose over ME, that ridiculous!

 

Dorothy: Blanche, put yourself together!

 

Blanche: You haven't told Rose anything, right? Oh good. After all, she's not as worldly and sophisticated about these things as I am.

I love the one where Dorothy and Rose are writing a song for Miami. I love when they do "Miami is Nice"---they go into Rose saying "thrice"----and she ends up sing "Miami...you're cuter than...an intrauterine"

hehe, and the Christmas where they make each other presents! I don't remember this exactly, but Rose got Dorothy a maple syrup spigot. This is also the Men of Blanche's Boudoir calendar.

 

Dorothy: Awhh, this will come in handy more than those pearl earrings...the next time I'm stuck in the woods with a stack of pancakes

I LOVE the Golden Girls! I have the first two series on DVD, hope to get the rest soon!

 

My favourite character is Dorothy too, but most of the moments I find absolutely hilarious are the moments when Rose talks about St. Olaf and pronounces the crazy words like "hurgen-flurgen"!

Golden Girls alums Bea Arthur, Rue McClanahan and Betty White reunited at the TV Land Awards in Hollywood this past weekend, where the trio were honored. As they should!

 

Estelle Getty was unable to attend as she continues to battle health issues.

And I don't know why I notice certain things... But I feel bad for even saying it... I know that they are of advanced age, but Bea and Rue's choice of shoes is just terrible! Could they have worn something a little more fashionable? Yes, I know, it's bad... But I had to say it!
