A spokeswoman for the Shanghai Intellectual Property Administration Office told reporters this week it was "a shame" Céline Dion was spotted shopping in the city's notorious knock-off stores.

Reporters spot her shopping in the fake item shop. She admit she went for shopping herself at the press conference.

That alley is actually a place full of little stores. There is one store that Celine visited that sells lot of brand-name stuff, and lots of famous folks go shop there as well. The article says that since Celine left the place empty handed, people thought that she bought nothing. But then later in the evening, they found 9 bags of stuff were delivered to her hotel.

Yeah, I know about those pics, but we don't actually know that SHE is the one they were purchased for... you know what I mean right? I'm not saying that she's a saint, they could be hers, but I doubt it... why would a woman like her support something that's illegal?

If they are I'll be extremely disappointed... and that's not just because it's her LOL, I think it's wrong for anyone to support such things.. even if I couldn't afford (which she obviously does) or didn't want to spend that kind of money on the real thing, I'd never buy replicas... it just screams lack of taste... you pay for quality... I just wouldn't be able to do it...

I'm sorry but that's more than slightly narrow minded. I don't agree with replicas for the sole purpose it generates money to crime but if it wasn't for that...I wouldn't mind anyone buying what looks like the real deal but isn't. Not everyone can afford designer labels (which I find are diculous anyway...the prices are absolutely disgusting - there's people starving in the world and people buy a bag for $6,000? :sick: ) and besides...you might actually "just" like the look of the bag and want it because of that. Buying a replica doesn't mean you want to try to look rich and make people believe you can afford the real thing when you can't. "Lack of taste"...I'm sorry but I find that comment arrogant. It's the same with the "typical" Louis Vuitton bags...those are status symbols only. People go for those brown or white ones because they're "famous" LV designs and easily identified as LV's and show people they have money to afford them. It's rediculous.

But that is the case... and I really don't think that's okay, I think it's morally wrong

you might actually "just" like the look of the bag and want it because of that. Buying a replica doesn't mean you want to try to look rich and make people believe you can afford the real thing when you can't

2. If one likes the look of the bag, why not buy one in another price range? the styles are copied EVERYWHERE, so you can get the desired look without supporting this kind of "criminal activity"

I know that the ones in this world that want and can afford these items are very very few. I know that most people think the prices are outrageous, and I know that people are starving in this world... But what difference does that make? Is it reasonable to ask the financially stable people to donate their hard earned spare money to some sort of organization? Of course it's generous of people to do so, but no one can take that for granted. ($6000 is an exaggeration btw, if we're talking about the same bags)

I appreciate LV for it's history, for it's simplicity, for it's craftsmanship, and above all else, it's quality. For me, "status" as got nothing to do with it.. nothing. And I believe Sophoan agrees with me

The old me would have gotten extremely upset with you calling me "narrow minded" and "arrogant", but I'm not. Because I know that it's not true, and so do those who know me And what I'm about to say is a first... I am a nice, kind, generous, humble, down to earth person. I'm an ambitious, non-working fashion/design student (on medical leave), don't think I spend my days maxing out credit cards/slowly giving some poor old husband a heart attack. This is a hobby. Is it so wrong for me to like this for the quality and craftsmanship? Is it so wrong for me to think that supporting everything that has to to with counterfeit is horrible? You're entitled to your opinion, why shouldn't I be entitled to mine...

I do not take that comment to heart, because I do not, in any way, deserve it So like I said, we're just going to have to agree to disagree...
