Tina Turner To Tour Again !

After the sad and depressiveness of running to Oprah's studios to try and meet Celine and not seeing her died off, I heard Tina Turner was in town (Chicago). I know all of her big hits, but am not so familiar with all of her music. I thought what the heck. The concert last night was at 8, and I left home at 7:15 with no ticket. I wandered around the United Center hoping to find a ticket with no luck, I wonder if scalping is Illegal in Illinois? So, I started back for home, but then I decided to go around one more time. These two older ladies approached me and asked if I needed a ticket and I said yes. They explained that a family member could not make it and I eventually ended up with this $150 ticket for $40! I then entered the United Center!

 

I quickly found my seat and this was one of the closest seats I have ever had at a concert! Woot! A few minutes later, the whole audience stood up and cheered and took pictures. Oprah had arrived and was in the house! She came with a group of about 10 people, and her boyfriend person (that really tall guy) was with her. This made it easy to spot her whenever I needed to!

 

The show started and the massive red curtain unveiled Tina in a stunning dress on a huge platform. She sang for 45 minutes and then had a 30 minute intermission (she is 68). She then came back on for almost another hour and a half. The show was very artistic with about 6 or 7 costume changes and 7 dancers (4 women and 3 men). They danced like crazy and there were 3 or 4 interludes that they did while she changed outfits. The stage was quite huge with two massive stairwells on the sides and a huge cage that comes down to the center of the stage, very effective. Everything came together perfectly and that woman can still dance and sing like no other person at 68!

 

Some song highlights were River Deep Mountain High, Better Be Good To Me, What's Love Got To Do With It?, The Best (I’m embarrassed to say I only know all the words to the song because I listen to Celine’s live performance all of the time! ), Proud Mary, and Nutbush City Limits, during this song the stage came apart and allowed her to drift above the audience and sing and dance on top of everyone. Towards the end she mentioned her ‘girlfriend’ was in the audience, and everyone turned around and pointed to Oprah. After all, it was Oprah who convinced her to do this tour.

 

Everything about the show was spectacular and it seemed like it was paced so perfectly like every song she sang she gave more and more; there was no stopping this woman.

 

At the end, she waved to everyone and bowed and as she came to my side she looked at me, or so I think anyway…

 

Sorry this review was kind of jumbled and I didn’t bring my camera because I was in a hurry to get there and forgot. I am thrilled I got to see it on it's second night and I have a lot more respect for Tina Turner!

Someone really didn't like Tina, the only rating this had before me was a 1 How rude!! I'd love to hear some bootlegs from any of the concerts if anyone has to share. Also why did she start the tour in Kansas City?

OMG this sounds amazing. I saw some videos on youtube and this woman is just unstoppable ! She's a true power woman, so much energy and such joy of life and performing.

 

I would love to see her when she comes to munich, but unfortunately it seems that all the dates are sold out. If I don't get lucky by February and find some tickets, I guess I'll take my chances and go to the venue, maybe someone has a ticket to sell.

I will see Tina in Munich in February next year and I'm really lucky to have floor seats in row 4. The tickets for the 16 shows here in Germany went so fast!

I'm not a big fan of hers but there are a couple of songs I really like. And from what I've heard and seen on TV she's amazing live and she has probably more power and energy than any other female artist. But for me Céline is "Simply The Best"!!

I just got back from seeing Tina in concert! I cannot even describe how amazing the experience was! It just might have been the best concert I've been too! I've seen Cher, Mariah, Celine, Barbra, and they could all take some lessons from Ms. Tina! Her energy is unmatched. Her vocal ability is still as great as it ever has been. I was dumbfounded several times throughout the show about some of the notes that woman was hitting! At 69 no less! "Lipsync" isn't even in her vocabulary! How does she have the vocal stamina to sing like she does at the age she is for an entire concert? It's just out of this world. Her stage presence is just incredible. The woman OWNS the stage. She was born to be on stage. She sang all of her great hits, and several more lesser known. The sets were amazing, the dancers were amazing, the intro's, the instrument solos, all of it was just so much fun! It's exactly what you hope for when you see someone live. She gives absolutely every ounce of herself to the audience, physically, vocally, emotionally. I just could not have more impressed, and I feel so lucky to have been able to see her live in my lifetime! Her body is in incredible shape, and her costumes were so fabulous! I cannot fathom the fact that she is 69 years old. She looks as good as she ever has, and sounds as good as she ever has. I am so happy to have gone!
