JUPITER ISLAND, Fla., May 25 (UPI) -- Singer Celine Dion is the biggest water utility user along Florida's Treasure Coast, consuming 6.5 million gallons in a year, a newspaper reported Sunday.

The Palm Beach (Fla.) Post reported its investigation of water usage records for Martin County, Fla., utility users found many of the biggest consumers were on wealthy Jupiter Island, where Dion's company, Renlec Management, owns 5.7 acres. Her estate reportedly went through enough water in a one-year period to fill a 50-gallon bathtub every four minutes.

The average area resident consumes 10,000 gallons per month. However, some residents went through as much as 1.6 million gallons in a single month, the Post found.

It reported that Dion's company did not return calls for comment about the property, where an old home had been razed and was being replaced by a 9,800-square-foot mansion.

The newspaper also found that golfer Tiger Woods' 12-acre Jupiter Island estate used close to 3.7 million gallons of water over the same 12-month period, working out to an average of about 310,700 gallons per month. An associate of Woods told the Post much of the water was used to irrigate newly transplanted large native trees.

 50-gallon bathtub every four minutes   :giggle:

Why? I can't understand it... Who's using the 50-gallon bathtub every four minutes???:o I mean, they were in Vegas for 5 years.. And she's been doin' the Taking Chances Tour since February...Hmmmnn

OK :P

The only way I could see this as being realistic is if the water was being used for a pool or a bunch of pools, a spa, etc. I doubt that Celine and her family have used that much water for just drinking, cooking, and bathing.

i live in florida and water is such a big deal not to waste

floridians are always so obsessed not to waste any water and there are so many rules regulations to follow, when to water our lawns how many times a week, etc.

but those millions of gallons sound exaggerated

That is a lot of water, and I do wonder what on Earth it would be used for (maybe not really a house, but a water theme park....or she's growing a really really really big tree? :P) ...but it sucks how they act like she's personally responsible for it, when she wasn't even living there!

oh please, who cares!

6.5 mil gallons of water dont sound possible -_- whoever who wrote that must be stinking bored

Just another way to bash Celine!!

She didn't even live there, the house was demolished and they are now building a new house... so how could this even be true?

Even if all her 13 brothers and sisters lived with her, they wouldn't even use that much water!! :whistling:

Posted
since she is not even there - it can't be her, right? Whatever those guys are doing with all that water....maybe they don't like the salty sea water....?

This is sad...

Love comes to those who believe it...

I don't think it's really professional of them to release such information, isn't it?

STUPID RUMORS.

And even if it does, it's not that Celine takes baths all the time. It sounds really invented. Grrr..
