tonybower Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 (edited) S'il suffisait d'aimer - If it were enough to love I dream of his face, I pull away from his bodyAnd I imagine him living in my space I would tell him so much if I only knew how to speak to him How can I make him read deep into my thoughts? But how do they do it, those who seem to get it right all the time? Tell me where I go wrong, and tell if I'm just living in a dream worldI would offer my soul, my heart and all my time But I've tried to give my all, it's just never enough! If loving each other were enough, if it were enough to love If we changed things just a little, just by loving to give If loving each other were enough, if it were enough to love I would make this world a dream, an eternity There is blood in my dreams, a dried petal When tears burn me, the tears that others have shed Life isn't waterproof, my island is windswept Doors let the sound of cries come through, even when they are closing The child in a garden, on a balcony of flowers, My peaceful life where I can hear the beating of every heart When the clouds grow darker, a sign of bad times Which weapons do we need in the land of our fears? If loving each other were enough, if it were enough to love If we changed things just a little, just by loving to give If loving each other were enough, if it were enough to love I would make this world a dream, an eternity If loving each other were enough, if it were enough to love If we could change things and start all over If loving each other were enough, if it were enough to loveFrom this dream we could make a world If it were enough to love Edited May 18, 2008 by tonybower Quote iPod Most Played List The Power Of Love (several versions) - Céline DionThe First Time Ever I Saw Your Face - Roberta FlackSi dieu existe - Céline Dion & Claude DuBoisFrankenstein - Antony & the JohnsonsIn Some Small Way - Céline DionBird Gerhl - Antony & the JohnsonsLe blues du businessman - Céline Dion Ne rien savoir de Lol était la connaître déjà.
tonybower Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 L'amour existe encore - Love Still Exists As I fall asleep against your body I no longer have any doubt Love still exists All my years of confusion All, I would give them all To anchor myself to your port The solitude I fear Which waits for me at the end of my journey I will exclude it To love you once and for all To love you at any price Despite that sickness that spreads And puts love to sleep As I fall asleep against your body I no longer have any doubt Love still existsLove still exists We were not from the same walks of life But when all is said and done, what does it matterIf we're right or wrong The world is led by madmen My love, it is down to us To love each other harderBeyond the violence Beyond the madness In spite of the bombs falling All around the world As I fall asleep against your body I no longer have any doubt Love still existsLove still exists Love still exists... tezz Posted May 18, 2008 Author Posted May 18, 2008 Thank you so much for the translations, and the tips of that website. I´m so happy. And wow that answer came fast. Thanks again Lot´s of Love Tezz Quote
Jacqui Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Wow...it amazes me time and again how beautiful her French lyrics are. Quote
tonybower Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Yeah, her French songs are usually amazing. But sometimes they get lost in translation. The link posted above is really useful but some things just don't work. A literal translation sometimes doesn't make much sense so you have to change it about to get the right idea in English which is what I tried to do above. But even then, the beauty of the French is not always conveyed... Still, it's nice to know what she is singing about Quote iPod Most Played List The Power Of Love (several versions) - Céline DionThe First Time Ever I Saw Your Face - Roberta FlackSi dieu existe - Céline Dion & Claude DuBoisFrankenstein - Antony & the JohnsonsIn Some Small Way - Céline DionBird Gerhl - Antony & the JohnsonsLe blues du businessman - Céline Dion Ne rien savoir de Lol était la connaître déjà.

Black Kitten Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 a little off, i always wonder what's the real meaning of the song Taking Chances and what's the theme of the song. i can't get the meaning of it. stupid me! Quote

tezz Posted May 19, 2008 Author Posted May 19, 2008 Yeah I agree, you can never really get the same feeling when you translate, but at the same time as you also said it´s nice to know what she is singing about. And those two songs I have understood when I have seen her perform them that they arw very emotional, you can tell it on the fans, and on Celine. And you get a feeling even thougt you don´t understand the lyrics, and that´s the amazing thing thing with music. The power of music. Once again thanks for the translations, I appreciate it Lot´s of Love Tezz Quote

Hi dhenawell, I'm not the most appropiate one to answer, since I'm not english nor american, but "Taking chances" refers to take the risk, without hesitationIn the particular context of these lyrics, it means to "go for it", stop wondering about how would it be, will it work?, etc, and just let go and go for it...in a love relationshipI'm not quite sure I made myself clear, so maybe someone from th US will explain it betterbye saludos Quote

SensationalCeline Posted May 23, 2008 Posted May 23, 2008 These were really helpful and her French is really beautiful when she sings it even though I don't have a clue what she's saying. I guess it's just her voice, but I listen to anything she sings whether in English, French, German, Japanese, or Spanish.
