Javito Posted May 15, 2008 at 05:35 PM Posted May 15, 2008 at 05:35 PM (edited) A friend of mine who is subscriber on the Billboard site has sent me these information about the Australian concerts, the first available of the world tour. Juzge yourself: March 31, 2008Brisbane Entertainment Centre (Brisbane, Australia)Gross Sales : $1,719,321 Attend/Capacity: 7,835/13,156Shows/Sellouts: 1/0Prices: $366.18, $321.21, $270.74, $90.86 40% empty April 2, 2008Melbourne Park, Rod Laver Arena (Melbourne, Australia)Gross Sales : $2,314,928 Attend/Capacity: 12,266/15,431Shows/Sellouts: 1/0Prices: $363.14, $318.54, $268.49, $90.10 20% empty April 4, 2008Members Equity Stadium (Perth, Australia)Gross Sales : $1,648,288 Attend/Capacity: 10,086/15,613Shows/Sellouts: 1/0Prices: $364.85, $320.04, $269.75, $90.53 35% empty April 5-6, 2008Acer Arena (Sydney, Australia)Gross Sales : $4,176,200 Attend/Capacity: 20,605/21,752Shows/Sellouts: 2/0Prices: $366.65, $90.97 5% empty Any of the concerts were sold out. Only the last two performances had a good result. Its funny because they decide not to visit Spain, where the album has been certified Gold (+40.000 copies), they don't go to Latinamerica because they consider it as "a market without enough projection", but they do 5 concerts in Australia, maybe considering that it is a safe market for touring (it seems like they are based in the results of the last time she went on tour there, 10 years back ), not to mention the poor charts that the album has had in Australia. The album fall in the charts fastly after the concerts, instead of climbing positions (as would be the normal result). These information speaks for itself, meaning that the Céline Dion tour wasn't as much expected by the australian audience as they thought Of course the miserable promotion that SM has given to the album as much to see with this. Again, another reason for Céline to leave Sony!! Today I was wondering if Céline has today enough popularity and demand from the audience to be doing this big world tour?(especially for the huge number of dates in USA and Canada). (Thank you very much Leo for this! ) Edited May 15, 2008 at 05:38 PM by Gonzalillo "Hush, now... I see a light in the sky"
grobandion Posted May 15, 2008 at 05:41 PM Posted May 15, 2008 at 05:41 PM wow. The fact she won't be in Spain is really unbelievable. LatinAmerica, well, it was obvious, but España, vamos hombre!!!And viewing those figures from attendance, it's really sad. But I'll say it again Gonzalilllo...calma, que te va a hacer mal. En Argentina decimos: no te hagas tanta mala sangre.Saludos
ewan123 Posted May 15, 2008 at 05:45 PM Posted May 15, 2008 at 05:45 PM i think that only the first concert has poor results (i mean it's half empty),,,,but hey!do not forget that the whole australian leg was re - arranged, and this might led to cancellations....
