bgcalde Posted May 14, 2008 at 06:31 PM Posted May 14, 2008 at 06:31 PM Just wanted pay a little tribute to one of tennis greatest players who have inspired so many people. She's of course best known for the best backhand ever, 7 grand slam titles, and mostly for being such a tough fighter. It's defitinely a sad day for all of her fans and for sports in general, we've lost a true champion. Anyway, I just want to wish Justine the best of luck and happiness in her new life. Thanks for all the great matches, unforgettable memories. (Not that it is related, but she is a big celine fan) Quote
dj4celine Posted May 14, 2008 at 06:49 PM Posted May 14, 2008 at 06:49 PM I was in shock and then in tears when I heard the news of her retirement. She's definitely the most complete female player after Chris Evert. Her game wasn't just about power or technique .... it was everything combined. Even though she was so tiny, she gave a good fight to towering player like the Williams sisters, Maria Shriekapova and even Lindsay Davenport. It was always fun to see her play especially at Rolland Garros Her backhand was the best and her game-play was just awesome!! I have most of her tapes and watch those to help me play the game and better myself in it Truly an inspiration I wish her all the luck for her future Now the Williams sisters, Shriekapova and other players would be celebrating that their road to the top rank is clear of the challenge that Henin poised for them. Nat27 Posted May 22, 2008 at 05:18 PM Posted May 22, 2008 at 05:18 PM I was really shocked to hear that she was retiring from Tennis, she was a greart champion and the queen of Rolland Garros! AND the best backhand that woman's tennis has ever seen!!! She was never my favourite player (Lindsay Dvenport is!!!!!) but one has to admire a great talent like that and give credit where it is due! Prince Whiskers Posted May 27, 2008 at 01:30 PM Posted May 27, 2008 at 01:30 PM Amazing that the injury-prone and multi-tasking (outside interests abound) Williams sisters have outlasted their contemporaries. Capriati, Hingis, Kim and now, Juju. I played tennis in high school and college, and I had (and still do) a two-handed BH. Tell you what, trying to hit a one-handed BH can really tire you bec. of the constant strain that the shot puts on your shoulder and upper arm! Federer has a one-handed BH as well but it's different from Juju's in the sense that a lot of his power off the shot is supplied by his wrist snap!
