I really want to keep my hopes up and believe whoever said that was only a promo video and not the actual vid , because honestly , I can't get over the fact that they used the tour version of EOM as a background for this fanmade low-cost video , the original audio has more potential and that's why it deserves a nice ground-breaking video , I'm a new fan , I've never heard about Sony sabotaging Celine's album promotion , now I realize Britney was not the only one to endure bad and cheap promotion for her album this year , ... so sad that both my idols don't get what they deserve

you're prolly right.. over the years, the name celine dion has become one of the most annoying names in music business and i really don't know what happened to her reputation that once was her key to sell millions of cds. aside from leaving sony, she should fire Rene Angelil as her manager. for her albums, she should team up with L.A. Reid, Clive Davis or any high profile managers and producers. this big joke EYES ON ME video will soon fade away in a week or two. wanna bet?

Ok guys..Don't repeat the same things all the time Taking Chances hasn't sold many copies..what we can do?Nothing.It's Celine's ,Rene and Sony's responsibility.There is no meaning to repeat all the time that TC is a flop etc.Sometimes becomes irritating.Be more hopefull and optimistic! Well you know what I think is the real big problem? The fact that they (Sony, René, Céline herself) heavely promoted Céline as a ballad singer (only upbeat songs in 90 - 98 were LCMM, M and THLAL ) and when TTWII came it was already too late! And now they are facing even more this problem! IA kinda catched on, but IDAN did nothing, eventhough it had hit written all over it!

 

If they had promote her more with more upbeat songs from her English start in 1990, people would have accepted her more as an overal singer, not just a ballad singer. But now it's too late, I'm afraid! Alone could have been big IMO if it was released in december and with a good video. If they really want any of the upbeat songs on TC (Eyes on Me, Shadow of Love or Fade Away) have any chance, they need to have a great video and Céline all over the place promoting it! As I don't see either happening... I guess the general public won't ever hear these songs, nor hear Célines upbeat side...

Celine IS a ballad singer and she should have sticked to that, her status would have greatly benefited if she had. on the other hand if you have a cute uptempo song like that's the way it is, a new day has come (remix) or A CAUSE / On s'est aime a cause (another wasted opportunity! having 2 great songs with one lyric, its so different! -to me at least-) then release it and hope for the best! (but also give it a chance and do a damn good video and promo for it)

What's up with all the bashing re TCH's commercial performance? Underwhelming vis-a-vis Celine's standards, yes, but if you put things in the context of today's reality in the music market.....think again.

it's not that the album is selling bad, but it's selling way beneath its potential! it's full of songs that have big hit potential, but if it isn't promoted well, then most people will never hear it and will never buy the album! and that's a big shame, cos it deserves to be recognized for its quality!

 

to Alex.. sure she is a ballad singer... and I love that... but even if they are screwing up the ballad singles (releasing GTSW, HYEBIL way too late not releasing IS etc) well then you have a big problem! I so agree with u things changed for everyone!as i said in her topic also for Madonna in UK it was not a nice debut no matter she reached n1 she sold "just" 95k(confessions debuted with 217k)

When i say she's a ballad singer, we use ballad for anything non-dance (even taking chances is considered a ballad for example lol) its obvious that wrong single choices and wrong choice of "ballads" to record will do her NO good. i liked the Taking Chances exactly because she's taking a right step this time and moves away from ballads like the ones you mentioned and records songs like My love, I got nothing left, right next to the right one, skies of LA i loved the album in general but defo NOT because of Eyes on me or Shadow of love. i love the "rocking" Celine and i always have. The ballad singer label may not do her justice enough but every artist (not to mention human being) unfortutely gets tagged and so did Celine... there's nothing wrong with that. u can't please EVERYONE and trying to do that is what makes Celine lose her status imo

I believe the exact OPPOSITE, the album sold 3.000.000 copies because of the name Celine Dion, if it had another name on it, it would have sold less (with the same support from sony always)

you are so true,I think the problem that even exist now is celine does't really promote her album she only sang eyes on me I think twice and she liped them on specials,and she kept on singing her old songs or others songs in her CBS special,I don't know why the hell she should sing power of love in her special.she really didn't get sick of that song.she did't sang fade awy,can't fight the feeling or surprise surprise.oh my god

And i think releaseing alone as a single was a mistake too,when everyone say the heart version is far more better.(I haven't heard Heart version so it is not my opinion).
