As much as i love I Drove All Night, it doesn't compare with the original by Cyndi Lauper (yes Cyndi Lauper people, it's something that annoys me when people credit Roy Orbison. He recorded it 2 years before Cyndi did, but didn't release it until 3 years after it was a hit for Cyndi).

 

I'd find it hard to pick her best cover taken from an album, but i absolutely love her singing Tina's The Best.

Seduces Me was originally done by the writer himself, Dan Hill, and If You Asked Me To was done by Patti LaBelle. she has a lot of covers. even Falling into You is a cover.

Good grief...there are simply too many to name. My favourite would have to be "The Greatest Reward", (which I'm not sure I can list because it's not really an authentic cover but an adaptation from a French song, isn't it?), but I adore "River Deep", "It's All Coming Back", "ABM", "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face", "Nature boy", and I can't even think of them all...the list is long, too long. She's sort of the queen of cover songs, which makes the decision almost impossible.

 

Although, from a non-personal point of view, I'd say her "best" cover, as in quality and production, would either be River Deep, ABM, or IACBTMN. She sang her guts out and made these songs into mighty strong pieces.

I really loved All By Myself, it was a really powerful song, Natural Woman, I wish, Alone, I've got the World on a string, I drove all Night and That's Just the Woman in Me along with River Deep, Mountain High. I think that she is great at anything she decides to sing. She always makes it her own and she has the most beautiful voice ever.
