destin139 Posted June 30, 2008 at 01:03 PM Posted June 30, 2008 at 01:03 PM thank you so much chuck! that was a great read! i agree with everything you had to say - if i got just 1 minute with celine there would be so much more to talk about than slagging off the record label!i wish that celine would call me up on the phone and say "It's Celine...I'm sorry...is it too late to talk?" O my word I think i would die!!! that would be incredible!! Quote http://i717.photobucket.com/albums/ww171/destin139/Celine2.jpg
Un Rêve Posted June 30, 2008 at 06:52 PM Posted June 30, 2008 at 06:52 PM Hey Chuck, thanks for this little bit of background story. These are the most fun to read, because it really shows Celine and what she's like. And you're like a fresh breeze to me now, because I completely agree with what you said. I was just at a point where I needed a bit a reminding Thanks! It's really appreciated! Quote
Kerry Elizabeth Posted July 1, 2008 at 12:12 AM Posted July 1, 2008 at 12:12 AM Thank You Chuck! That was a very nice read. I admire that you asked the questions that you asked. I think it was very classy. Anyone can ask truly sleezy questions, but I think it takes a classier person to stay within the bounds and get information in a polite way. Bravo! godessceline Posted July 2, 2008 at 04:17 PM Posted July 2, 2008 at 04:17 PM (edited) Wow, Chuck..amazing story, thanks so much for sharing it with us! These little "behind-the-scenes" peeks really do establish the feelings we have for Céline and really prove that she really IS that caring, that respectful, that giving. What you see IS what you get, and I love that about her more than I could ever say. when I asked her in this conversation about what would surprise people to know and she said that she hates to sing when she’s unhappy wow..I never knew. I guess we give ourselves the right to assume that she works in specific ways, that she's this and this but not that and that we assign her reactions she might not even have. I don't know if that's because we tend to compare with ourselves and maybe that's why a lot of people "give" her qualities she doesn't really have. "Well she's been through this and this, if I was to experience the same thing I would go crazy/cry/laugh/explode/run/complain/whatvever". So she must be too, right? Wrong. For example...I don't sing, but I write a lot, which I consider to be my outlet and most sicnere form of expression and something I do a lot when I'm upset or hurting because it helps me heal and get things out. I can honestly say (and I am a little ashamed for admitting this, now that I'm looking at myself properly) that because of that, because I work that way and because writing is as big a part of my life as singing is to Céline's...I sometimes without thinking about it assume that singing when she's upset has got to be something she loves/needs. It's not a concsious thought as such or anything I've ever thought much about -it is just that: a random thing I assume without reflecting much upon. I think we all do that to a certain extent without realizing, that's why I so very much love all these (very rare) interviews that offer a glimpse of Céline the person. And I can now more than ever start to understand why she doesn't speak about her personal opinons, about politics, about the world. I have always wanted her to, but again, maybe that's ebcause I ASSUME that the opinions she has are going to be compatible with mine. But...what if they're not? What if she's pro things that I am very strongly against, what if she totally doesn't care about certain political aspects that I'm interested in and vice versa? I wouldn't judge her and she wouldn't judge me, but it WOULD change things. Because at the end of the day...none of us really know her. What we "know" and love is the only Céline we have access to; which is the performer/entertainer and sometimes, if we're lucky, the person. That doesn't take away the profoundness of our feelings for her or the power of our the love we have for her, but we *are* in the dark about a lot of the aspects that make her who she is simply because we only have access to so much. (and that is just the way it should be). Interviews like this help prove the notion that she really IS genuine and that what we see on TV and in concerts IS very close to the person she is privately. We're very lucky that way. There is a thread on here asking what we would like to do if we could spend a day with Céline, and every single one of us said we would like to talk to her. Just sit down somewhere and talk, somewhere where she can be Céline and we can eb who we are. To meet as human beings. This interview made me realize even more how absoltuely amazing that would be and how fascinating I think she is as a person. More than that...there's a lot more depth to her than we think. Jacqui Posted July 3, 2008 at 02:53 AM Posted July 3, 2008 at 02:53 AM I can actually understand that, about her not wanting to sing when she's unhappy. I hate going to work when I'm upset, and having to pretend to be happy and polite to everyone. When she's performing, in a way she has to act even more, and connect to a lot of different emotions. One song she has to be happy and hyper, the next she has to be emotional and upset...that's gotta be hard when you're not feeling strong and you're having a bad day! Please don't take this the wrong way, but it's strange to me that a lot of you feel like we rarely see the "real" Celine. Because I feel like we see it a lot! She's very open and honest...you never hear her say "no comment", as hundreds of other celebrities do. She doesn't try to be "cool" or someone she's not. She talks about her love, her pain, her values, her dreams. I don't think there's really anything I want to know about her, that I don't already know.I just always assumed politics doesn't interest her enough that she wants to express a strong opinion, which is fine with me since I'm not interested in it either. In For Keeps, she says that she doesn't like to discuss that because she doesn't want people to feel as if her views are forced on us, and then we would feel less connected to her and her music (or something like that?)
