Putting a pic as my siggy

Can someone please tell me how i upload a picture of Celine or one of those banners that everyone is making and put it as my signature?

What you can do is post your images on an image server website. I use Photobucket (photobucket.com - it's free to join and it has rather sophisticated online editing capabilities). I have tried some others (imageshack.com and speedyshare.com) but the images didn't always show up in the posts. I think Photobucket is a lot more reliable.

 

Photobucket will have a series of boxes below each of your pictures and you want to copy the text in the Direct Link box. Just move your cursor over the text box and you should see a little pop-up box that says "copied"

 

Then you go to your control panel on this forum and "Edit your signature". Click on the icon that says "insert image". When you get the dialog box, paste the address from the direct link box from Photobucket into there. You should immediately see your image appear. If it is an animated image, such as a gif, you may not see the animation on the preview (at lesat it doesn't show on mine). But when you post, it should do it's animation.

 

I hope this is clear. If not, just repost and I'll try to walk you through it.

Thank you so very much. I can use any picture right? Is there a place on the boards where I can use banners people made or do I ask permission first?

If you are using someone else's banner, it would be good courtesy to ask their permission. They will probably be flattered and give you permission with no trouble.

 

I just checked your member information and saw that you appear to have linked to a photo in one of the Celine Dion galleries. That should work as well. Right click on the image gallery picture and go to "Properties". In the "Element Properties" box that pops up, look at Image Location. Select that entire address using your cursor.

 

The address that I got off of that gallery image was:

If this is indeed the picture you would like to use, you can just copy the link I typed above and paste it in the "Insert Image" box that pops up. Even if that's not the image you want, try copying and pasting that address and see if the image shows up.

Sorry, the entire text of the image location doesn't show in my post. It created a link automatically, I guess because of the http: prefix. The full address after the http:// is

I hope this doesn't come up as a link. But anyway, if you click on the link in my post, it will give you a single page of that image only. Put your cursor in the website address box in your browser and copy the address and paste that in the Insert Image box.

I'm glad you got it to work. Your signature is beautiful!!

 

As far as attachments, you can only have limited attachments (there is a total size limitation, so depending on how big they are the number you can have can vary).

 

If you do a reply to a topic (or maybe even start a new topic, I'm not sure about this because I never noticed) but below the area where you type you reply, you'll see a box on the right side that says "Manage Current Attachments". Below that is another box with a Browse button to the right of the box. You click on browse and point to the file you want to attach. When you find it, click it and it will appear in the box. Then click the "Upload" button. Keep the attachments around 200K if possible. I think the total space limit for all attachments to your account is about 800K.
