Ray Posted March 3, 2008 at 10:15 PM Posted March 3, 2008 at 10:15 PM linda eder is a great singer ....why do people fall in love....such a good song her best performance imho.but she is more barbra than celine i think...and to me leona is more in mariah style old mariah(the good stuff)i would love for lara to be more recognised ....she is superb check out her singing perdere l'amore on u tube its excellent!!! It is such a shame Lara does not have the recognition that she should. Lara is amazingly talented and her vocal prowess is unsurpassed! In fact, her debut album in English, is an excellent, high quality record! Every song is completely amazing! Songs such as Adagio, I Will Love Again, You Are My Heart, Love by Grace, You're Not From Here, and To Love Again are magnificent! I so agree! To some people Linda Eder may sound more like Barbra Streisand, but I would always say she's more Celine, as I don't like Barbra's voice that much, while I do love Celine and Linda. Listen to Linda's version of "All the way" and it's like you hear Celine doing a solo version of that song! Good news for Linda's fans: she's about to release her new album "The other side of me". As the title says: it's going to be very different to all her other albums. It's going to be more "Lucie Silvas" than "Michael Bublé". Can't wait! Lara Fabian should absolutely get more recognition. She's one of the best performers I can think of. I'm so glad that her voice is as good as Celine's. It made me take notice of her and now I love her for her own skills. As for Leona Lewis: she does sound a lot like a young Mariah Carey, but... not as good as Mariah herself was on her debutalbum. I do have to admit that Leona's "Spirit" is the best album I've heard in a very long time! However, her first single "A moment like this" was even better in the rendition of Dutch vocal diva Glennis Grace. If you love power vocalists like Mariah and Whitney, check out "My impossible dream" by Glennis Grace, her best album to date! tonybower Posted March 15, 2008 at 07:04 PM Posted March 15, 2008 at 07:04 PM can anyone recommend any particular songs by Lara Fabien? So many of you seem to like her but I can't say I've ever listened to her.If there is another vocalist out there as good as Celine I want to hear it! At the moment, I'm personally loving Ellen Greene, who plays Audrey in the film Little Shop Of Horrors. She may not be a recording artist but she has such a great show voice! Cris77 Posted March 15, 2008 at 07:30 PM Posted March 15, 2008 at 07:30 PM As David Foster once said: There's noone else in the world to be the next Barbra Streisand This is something to think about. Many of you have mentioned Mariah carey or Whitney Houston. But it seems that these two are part of the past. Mariah Carey's career lasted the same as the 90s decade. Whitney with her health problems won't be the same. Never again. Celine started in the 80s succeed in the 90s and there's still much to see in the 2000. Who can offer more?Who can equal her not only proffesionally but also personally. Have you ever seen a singer like her? Almost 3 decades succeeding and being a simple and kind person who has never meant to be a Diva. All the rest have spoilt lives. The only one I can consider at her level is Gloria EstefanA woman who has always lived a simple live like Celine. Giving the main importance to family life.Thats being a real singer and person. That's the secret of their success and the reason why people support them on and on. Quote

JLynnL24 Posted March 20, 2008 at 02:18 AM Posted March 20, 2008 at 02:18 AM The only one I can tend to agree with would be Whitney... back in the day. Mariah is ok... but didn't pop into my mind when thinking about comparing ability... I think Christina has the potential to be legendary if she can harness her power and focus on what works. I think she is very talented. Someone mentioned Madonna... I think she has amazing creativity and has done things never done before to be successful- but I wouldn't compare her singing ability with Celine (or Whitney or Mariah or Christina for that matter) IMO... corr_azy Posted March 21, 2008 at 01:35 PM Posted March 21, 2008 at 01:35 PM Hopefully Whitney comes back with a killer album this year. Her last performance on the World Music Awards in 2004 was amazing. I think Mariah is the most relevant in the industry today which is very much into hip-hop and RnB. I think it is a mistake to say she changed her style to stay relevant. She went into the RnB direction way back in 1997 when that style of music wasn't even big. I even dare say that she helped pioneer the RnB movement. Quote
Black Kitten Posted March 21, 2008 at 01:46 PM Posted March 21, 2008 at 01:46 PM in singing department, celine is the only one who stays pretty much the same as her 90's years. mimi's voice come & go, whitney houston's voice is still recovering, celine's voice, though undeniable has become more nasal than ever, she still can hit a perfect note without struggling. her image is still as conservative as ever, she is still grounded. so all in all, no one. SharmellaAntoinette_ Posted March 21, 2008 at 05:30 PM Author Posted March 21, 2008 at 05:30 PM lol Tina Arena is my favourite artist ever the reason i haven't mentioned her is because she isn't much of a threat to Celine as the likes of Whitney and Mariah for the simple reason that she isn't universally acknowledged. Tina is practically unheard of here in the UK, only songs like chains and iwtsmlly make it into any sort of british chart. sarah connor who i also love could be a possible threat to celine as well but because she is only popular in countries such as germany she isnt as threatening. celine is known world-over Quote

Can't understand why. Her new English album "Songs of Love and Loss" is brilliant as is her new French album "7 Vies". To me she is the "Australian Céline" and I hope she'll have her big break in the near future. (It took Céline a long time to get to the fame she holds now.
