Tonight's the night

 

Sounds like something Celine would say... Come to think of it, she does say that! LOL! I like that.

Ok here goes ... the show rocked! I still can't believe I saw Celine perform live, she was amazing! The traffic was horrific though, we waited in the car for a couple of minutes which was very annoying and then when we got to the venue we stood in a really long quee. My boyfriend forgot his ticket at home, so we had to go all the way back to get his ticket, so as you can imagine by the time we got in, we were not as close to the stage as I had hoped, which left me very dissapointed. There were lots of tall people infront of me who blocked my view, so most of the times I had to watch the big screens when I wasn't ducking and diving to see Celine in the flesh.

 

Jodie was good, her opening wasn't as boring as I thought. But she just build up the tension to Celine haha. It was very windy last night, at one point her dress blew up and she just laughed. Celine also mentioned that people had warned her of Port Elizabeth being the windy city, she commented by saying that they were definately not lying. Loved how she pronounced Port Elizabeth!

 

So they started with the video of Celine driving, which got everyone screaming and excited. Then Celine appeared on stage and actually sang I Drove All Night live, BRILLIANT! So happy she did that. My favourite performances, definately Eyes On Me and River Deep Mountain High. The dancers were good too, very entertaining. Unfortunately though she did leave Fade Away off the setlist. Sorry guys, but I was unable to take any good photos as my cellphone took really crappy pics. I took some videos as a memorobilia for me, and they are too crappy to upload, you can barely see anything, but at least you can sort of hear her singing with the crowd screaming and singing along. After the show I bought the tourbook, which is a really nice book and something to keep as memorobilia of the concert.

 

All in all, it was a great show, but I would have had a much better time had I been closer to the stage and had sneeked in my digital camera which some people managed to do, they didn't even check you properly at the gates, how I regret not taking the camera with! Though I doubt I would have gotten any good photos with all the tall people infront of me who honestly made it hard for me to see anything on stage! At least I have my videos on my phone to relive the concert hehe

Wind pauses for breath as Dion gets the Friendly City on its feet

ABOUT 15000 cheering fans were on their feet at the EPRU Stadium in Port Elizabeth last night as the wind died down and the voice of Celine Dion rose into the night.

 

With the crowd having been warmed up by local 17-yearold Idols sensation Jody Williams, the Canadian superstar kicked off with her 2003 hit I Drove All Night in a rousing sing-along.

 

Fans hailed the show as thoroughly professional with Dion making several lightning changes of outfit. Earlier yesterday Port Elizabeth dished out its trademark friendliness as the Canadian songstress touched down at the airport.

 

Dion could not help but comment on another of the city‘s trademarks. “Oh, the wind!” she exclaimed before being ushered through the arrivals terminal where about 100 fans waited.

 

With her husband-manager Rene Angelil and under heavy police guard, she blew kisses to fans of varied ages, most of whom captured the moment on cellphone cameras.

 

Dion spoke about the “nice breeze” that welcomed her to the city, saying it was lovely and that her family would like to return one day.

 

“Starting in South Africa on my world tour has been the most fantastic experience – a perfect way for us as a family to begin our new chapter on the road,” she said in a statement released earlier.

 

“It‘s a great feeling to be back on tour and to perform to my fans around the world.”
