Bellamy Posted February 14, 2008 at 09:46 AM Posted February 14, 2008 at 09:46 AM Nickelback Heading For Record If Rockstar goes to Number 1 then Chad and the rockers will set a new record… Nickelback are heading to Number 1 with Rockstar and will set a chart first. The US rockers’ hit will break the record for the longest a song has been in the Top 40 before going to number 1. Rockstar has now been in the UK singles chart an incredible 16 weeks rising steadily and now it looks set to knock Basshunter the singles summit. The previous holder of the record was Celine Dion whose classic hit Think Twice was around for 14 weeks before hitting number 1. Our fave Welsh songstress Duffy looks set to enter the Top 10 on Sunday with her Mercy track as do electro outfit Goldfrapp.http://www.mtv.co.uk/channel/mtvuk/news/13...or_chart_record Quote Please support the forum by ordering everything through our special Amazon.com link Click here. stevethefan Posted February 15, 2008 at 02:35 AM Posted February 15, 2008 at 02:35 AM Nickelback?! What! I wish if someone or group were going to break her record that it would at least be someone better than them! I guess Celine's "lucky 5" isn't working for her in this case (get it? Nickelback..Celine's lucky number is 5?) Quote

LuisMa Posted February 15, 2008 at 10:57 PM Posted February 15, 2008 at 10:57 PM It appears our Celine will be keeping the record after all, as Duffy has passed Nickelback in the midweek sales info. 1 Duffy 23345 sales2 Nickelback 22061 By the way, Celine doesn't hold the record all by herself, as Jennifer Rush's "The Power Of Love" also took 16 weeks to take "The Power Of Love" to number one. Here are the chart runs for the three singles in question: Celine Dion THINK TWICE: 53-42-52-30-28-22-20-9-8-5-6-4-2-2-2-1-1-1-1-1-1-1-3-4-12-17-22-34-51-67-70 (31 weeks on chart) Jennifer Rush THE POWER OF LOVE 65-49-51-45-44-47-46-44-43-47-49-42-36-15-2-1-1-1-1-1-2-4-5-10-27-21-22-35-33-35-48-62-73R(46)-63-55-72 (36 weeks on chart) Nickelback ROCKSTAR 64, 58, 45, 34, 20, 21, 19, 22, 25, 25, 15, 8, 4, 6, 3, 3, 2 (17 weeks on chart, up to today) Quote

LuisMa Posted February 17, 2008 at 11:34 PM Posted February 17, 2008 at 11:34 PM (edited) As reported, Duffy claims the number one position in the UK Singles Chart, leaving Celine's record intact. But Nickelback holds strong at number 2. Next week, Kylie's "Wow" is released as a physical single, so let's hope Nickelback drop and leave Celine alone. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio1/chart/singles.shtml Edited February 17, 2008 at 11:34 PM by LuisMa Quote
