lindsey22 Posted February 11, 2008 at 09:03 PM Posted February 11, 2008 at 09:03 PM There have been many comparisons between Celine & tina over the internet especially with the cover Celine did of STB. tina fans always try and diss Celine. they say things like tina dances better blah blah blahBut does she really?I went and reviewed the tina videos of RDMH and i'm sorry to say that Celine did a heck of a lot better job than tina both in the singing and the dancing department. people just automatically say oh tina's better, same with the heart comparison. Because they came first and they were impressed with the first rendition, but seriously Celine brings the remakes to a higher level. Quote
mebe Posted February 11, 2008 at 10:20 PM Posted February 11, 2008 at 10:20 PM I also saw old videos of Tina doing the song and I completely agree with you. She was singing it very well for sure. But for the rest I was not so impressed. I really think that Celine did a great job too. It was a hot performance for sure. I hope she will do it on tour. Quote
anna Posted February 11, 2008 at 10:27 PM Posted February 11, 2008 at 10:27 PM i don't think there should be a comparison although there will always be because tina did those songs first it's like other artists trying to cover celine songs and everyone has something to say about that too... but celine does so much more newer and fresher things with RDMH and TB with her dancers, i think its more showy and entertaining... aicee Posted February 11, 2008 at 10:54 PM Posted February 11, 2008 at 10:54 PM They compare Celine to Tina?! OMG! Celine is 101% better than to that old Tina Turner. Can somebody put a link to that video? I what to see it. thanks, Quote
canadachick Posted February 11, 2008 at 11:11 PM Posted February 11, 2008 at 11:11 PM You have to give Tina Turner props, she was and still is pretty great... BUT the first thing I said when seeing Celine's cover of The Best was "Wow, she gave Tina a run for her money." She was soooo much better! Celine should be like Tina and insure HER legs too! pat200 Posted February 11, 2008 at 11:12 PM Posted February 11, 2008 at 11:12 PM ur replies just show ur disrespect to other artists like tina's supporters did with celine. to diss tina is to diss a part of musical history. she is a legend just like celine is. she has been through hell in her life and still managed to succeed and be recognized as a true legend. when it comes to voice, surely celine's is superior (it is superior to all voices in my opinion) but when it comes to dancing, tina wins hands down. u might have seen 1 or 2 videos of tina, but when u see a lot of her performances u will see what a great dancer and perfomer she is. of course i am not saying celine isn't because she sure is, but when it comes to dancing, tina is in another league Quote
canadachick Posted February 11, 2008 at 11:14 PM Posted February 11, 2008 at 11:14 PM Oh! I forgot... don't even get me started on Celine singing RDMH. When she sang that in Vegas it was ELECTRIC! If you weren't fortunate enough to go, check out the dvd. It doesn't give it near as much justice as it deserves, but it's still incredible! Black Kitten Posted February 12, 2008 at 12:21 AM Posted February 12, 2008 at 12:21 AM nothing compares to the original of course. we love celine to death, that's why we say that she's way better than tina. but c'mon, this lady enjoyed her peak long before celine came to serenade her native country. i don't love tina and i'm obviously not a fan, but she's a legend. saying that a revival is better than the original is stupid (at least, for me). the song is being revived because, it is great. same thing happened when someone posted the version of this REGINE VELASQUEZ of the song "Alone". her fans kept on bashing celine, saying that regine is better than celine. in case of tina, she's a living legend. there's no point of comparison. stevo Posted February 12, 2008 at 12:43 AM Posted February 12, 2008 at 12:43 AM Tina Turner is Simply The Best- I mean that song. It's hers and never can be better. Just like IACBTMN can never be touched, or TPOL, or IS. Celine's versions are the best. But I thought Celine did a great tribute- she was obviously honouring Tina- she did her facial expressions and dance. It was a great performance and I love the way she sang it- so Celine. Quote

But bad examples. IACBTMN and TPOL are both covers made by Celine. Actually Tina Turner is not the original singer of Simply The Best either. So it just proves if you're good enough, you can make a cover song you own. Quote Please support the forum by ordering everything through our special Amazon.com link Click here. Thank you!
shady pines ma Posted February 12, 2008 at 08:52 AM Posted February 12, 2008 at 08:52 AM While I love, and I mean LOVE Celine's covers of those Tina songs, nothing beats Tina's originals for me. (Well, actually, Bonnie Tyler actually recorded The Best first, but her version tanked. ) The production on Tina's original RDMH is some of the best production on a pop record I've ever heard, and I just love The Best because it's such a Tina song, with the powerful sound of the music behind her, and that part near the end where it goes quiet, without vocals, and builds back up into full power mode and Tina starts singing again. And I loved that Celine kept that in during her performance too, as the radio and video edit often leave it out. Frankly, I wish last night's Grammy performance had been Tina with Celine, and not Tina with...Beyonce. Prince Whiskers Posted February 12, 2008 at 12:12 PM Posted February 12, 2008 at 12:12 PM Gotta agree with you, shady. Beyonce just couldn't match up Tina's stage presence during their performance. And by the way, Beyonce's thighs looked B.I.G. Quote http://cdn.webecoist.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/modern-pet-solo-blown-glass.jpg
grobandion Posted February 12, 2008 at 08:53 PM Posted February 12, 2008 at 08:53 PM Well, I have always admired Tina Turner..I think she's awesome. So I really dislike the fact that Celine fans attak her. In fact, I found reallly disrespectful to bash any other artist.Celine is the greatest artist in the world for me, but there are other amazing artists out there too..like Mrs.Turner. Quote
GoldenLeaf Posted February 12, 2008 at 09:46 PM Posted February 12, 2008 at 09:46 PM (edited) Bonnie Tyler's version of ''Simply The Best'' is superior to Tina's version but Celine's version is without any doubt the greatest. Edited February 12, 2008 at 09:50 PM by Calypso Quote

celineangel7 Posted February 15, 2008 at 12:11 PM Posted February 15, 2008 at 12:11 PM (edited) I LOVE Tina Turner!!! Not on the same level as Celine, but she rocks with attitude like there's no tomorrow! She is raw and so full of energy! She has aged gracefully and her legs are a trademark.I first heard her on Oprah when she made her last full studio album 24/7 and was impressed.I saw "Private Dancer" on one of those music collection infomercials a few years before. I was like eew that woman's voice is so rough and squealy. Then 2001 came along, and I had a new friend who said she was a Tina fan.In the car she played Tina's first or second hits since going solo on cd "Simply The Best." I got sucked into the music first. Then I asked to borrow the cd. I copied it to casetteto listen to on my headphones. I swear I listened to it for two months straight afterschool. I just got used to hearing her rough voice, and if you take that part away, the woman can sing pretty well. For having a voice like that she can hit some really high notes! She's so lucky, because she said she doesn't even have to take care of her voice on planes or much at all. She was close to retiring, and so I was able to catch her farewell tour.It was the second best concert I ever saw the first being Celine. I was dancing and singing alongall night screaming. I got it all on cassette. I sneaked my recorder in. I have as far as I am aware, every single solo album of hers, but a rare record she did in 1979and then some country cd's she did, which by previewing them, I didn't really like. I miss her so much. Last summer at the Americn Idols Live tour, there was a Tina duetand I shed a tear. So it's pretty cool that Celine was able to record RDMH. I actuallydon't like Tina's version. The sound is so muffled and her voice then I would notbe able to tolerate. So I wonder if Celine liked Tina before she recorded that songor if she new her music? Either way, Celine did an INCREDIBLE job covering "The Best!" You go girl! If Celine does a Tina song wether it be RDMH or any Tina song I will beVERY happy and that will surely be one of the high lights for me. A duet might not happen since she's in retirement and rarely comes out to perform or record. It would surely be awesome if it did happen! If you don't like Tina, that's okay, but for those who like her here, no bashing please. She does deserve respect for all that she has done for decades. Yes she is a legend anda great human being. Jenny Edited February 15, 2008 at 12:14 PM by celineangel7 Quote * December 18, 2008. 1st time ever in front row for a concert and it was with my idol Celine! Dream #1 accomplished. While singing a ballad the only time Celine looked at me was the time I had my sign up luckily! She stretched out her arm palm faced up while singing with even more emotion in her eyes when she saw it, so it seemed like it was just for me at that moment.Dream #2 accomplished with the extra bonus! She came and left on my side. I went out 1 row, held up my sign and she stopped, held it herself, and just looked at it with an awe expression on her face, stunned and amazed when she saw all the glitter! She looked me in the eyes with those beautiful brown eyes of hers she was tuned into me at that moment and didn't look away, again her looking so emotional as I said with a sincere look on my face to her "It took me 5 hours to make this." (could have been more not sure)She looked down and away very touched like maybe she wanted to cry then she HUGGED me!!!She held me for more than just a moment She really took her time! I said to her while about to cry from the hug, "I love you so much!" Then that was it I don't think she said a word to me. I was crying and saying omg all night with my heart racing and my mind in SHOCK from the unexpected hug and my eyes so sore from crying. I was ready to drop when I got home, but was so emotional I stayed up until 6:30 a.m.! Cried a little for a few days after. Sign and front row seat saved the day!Dream #3 accomplished... Me at :13 NOT my video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L62QJoUgN80

fa_na_tic Posted February 19, 2008 at 05:28 PM Posted February 19, 2008 at 05:28 PM I was very annoyed with the first replies to this topic. I think that bashing Tina is very disrespectful. Celine is my no 1, but I'm allowed to love Tina's music as well. Tina is a living legend, the queen of rock and roll and she deserves to be fully respected.I am sure Celine admires her too ("Just like Tina loves to sing"). Let's not forget that looooong before there was Celine, Whitney and even Cher, there was Tina. Now I don't want to emphasise the fact that she's the oldest of the group, I want to point out the longevityin the top of the music business that Tina achieved (a very hard thing to do).Her performances are always (amazingly even now at 69 years of age) like fireworks, full of passion and fun. It's hard to decide on who's version of RDMH is better, because they're both great, so I won't even try.Now STB is another matter. It's not that I didn't like Celine's version, but the song is almost Tina's trademark and it's imprinted on my brain. I also would have loved a duet between Celine and Tina at the Grammy Awards, rather than the one with Beyonce. It would have been electric. These are my 2 cents on the matter.
