The other photoshoot for A New Day Has Come, by Melvin Sokolsky!

Hey guys, look what I've found while I was looking for some info about this great album! Do you remember that before the actual photoshoot for ANDHC that we know, took by Patrick Demarchelier, there was another one that took place in Montreal in december 2001, took by photographer Melvin Sokolsky?

 

Sony and Céline talked about the photoshoot, but Céline didn't want to appear on the cover of the album (so that's why they released that first cover with her big logo and a background of clouds), but after all, a first photoshoot took place in december 2001 in Montreal. This photographer wanted to show Céline's face in different angles and showing different emotions on it

 

Go to his website, click on Beauty, then Portraits and Céline is picture #11!

 

I love the work this man did (as the one did by Patrick Demarchelier in Florida's beach)... but all that to end with a RC collage!

All this confirms that so much great talent and photos were wasted by Sony on this album! Because there wasn't one, but TWO photoshoots and they finished using RC pictures

Thank you Thomas! Yes its SO unusual, I can perfectly imagine those different Céline faces in the booklet of ANDHC, instead of the RC collage.

Or even this beautiful faces as a background of the linner notes and not the blue sea in all the pages!

 

Why Sony wastes all with Céline. They could have used this on the new collectors edition and not again all the same pictures

Yes, it was amazing. One picture leaked and it was actually quite nice featuring her natural hair. She ditched the project for it was truly not fitting to the concept of the album.

 

And a very nice find indeed! It's exactly the photo Céline talked about in the Billboard magazine - "verious emotions in facial pictures".

That's her nose. Its a very Unison era profile of her

 

I just love this picture. The moment I saw it for the first time, an hour ago now, it brought me back to 2002. I LOVE this album and all the pictures they were taken for it

Patrick Demarchelier photoshoot is priceless . And I would say we know only the tip of the iceberg. Those scenes of Céline standing on the rocks at the beach are amazing, and there are more scenarios in different places

That spread is sweet! Wow..Celine looks so different and sophisticated. The profile on the far right looks like Celine when she was 18! Crazy. I would've preferred this over what we have now.
