shady pines ma Posted January 31, 2008 at 06:04 AM Posted January 31, 2008 at 06:04 AM In case you didn't know, a musical version of the awesome 2001 movie Legally Blonde premiered on Broadway last year, and in October, MTV aired several broadcasts of the musical. The musical starred Laura Bell Bundy as Elle Woods, Christian Borle as Emmett Forrest, Kate Shindle as Vivienne Kensington, Orfeh as Paulette, and Andy Karl as Kyle, the UPS guy Paulette falls for. (Andy and Orfeh are married as well.) I forget who other cast members are, sadly. You can find them on Wikipedia's article if you do a search there, though. Sadly, I've not seen it on stage, as I'm stuck in Kentucky. :| But I did catch it on MTV and loved it. *Hugs bootleg DVD of broadcast.* It was nowhere near as bad as I expected. (I'm sure part of my expectations came from the fact that I love the movie lots.) So, has anyone seen it on TV, internet downloads, or live on stage? What'd you think? cannonball Posted February 4, 2008 at 12:01 AM Posted February 4, 2008 at 12:01 AM MTV recorded the show, and they rerun it pretty frequently. I LOVE it. It's fantabulous. Not the greatest show in the world, but totally entertaining. Quote http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y104/venusunfolding/100_3663.jpg3/14/07 - The Celine concert that almost was
Jeffieboi Posted March 15, 2008 at 04:24 AM Posted March 15, 2008 at 04:24 AM (edited) I'm not sure about the bumping rules in this forum, but I had to respond. I lurve the movie, and I saw the musical on MTV. It wasn't that bad. I actually enjoyed it even though I didn't watch the whole thing, and I'm not exactly a huge fan of musicals. This though...was pretty good. Edited March 15, 2008 at 04:25 AM by Jeffieboi Quote
celbabs Posted March 20, 2008 at 03:39 PM Posted March 20, 2008 at 03:39 PM I live in NYC and have seen the actual show. I freaking love it!!!!!! I in no way thought that I would like it but I caught it when it was MTV (I was out of town doing a show of my own). My joke is that the first time I saw it on MTV, I said to myself "That wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be". The second time I saw it on MTV, I said to myself "You know what, that's actually pretty cute". The third time I saw it on MTV I said to myself "Okay, I actually like that show". The FOURTH time I saw it on MTV, I said to myself "Oh my God, I totally have to see that when I get back to New York!!!!" I think it's MUCH better live because you're there and feeling the energy of the cast and all the other people around you. That cast is incredibly talented and it's clear, when you're there at the theatre, that they are all just having an absolute blast on stage! When my bf asked me what I wanted for my brithday, I told him I wanted Legally Blonde tickets. So I'm going to see it for my second time in a couple of weeks. PS. I had never seen the movie. And now, I don't ever want to cause Laura Bell Bundy IS Elle Woods to me. Also, she has a country CD out (more Dolly Parton country than Shania Twain country) and I went to hear her perform at a Barnes and Noble bookstore a couple of weeks ago to promote it. I was pleased to discover that she is indeed a good actress as that is not her real voice that she uses as Elle, either speaking or singing. She's really cute and adorable and wrote the entire CD with her writing partner (who plays piano for her). Quote
x_celinedion Posted March 20, 2008 at 05:12 PM Posted March 20, 2008 at 05:12 PM I have been following this show since rumors where announced of it coming onto Broadway. It is really an amazing show, I watched it on MTV and had the cast album for well forever and a day. Finally, I have a chance to go because everytime I had a chance something happened and I did not end up going. So I will be going on April 12th with my friends. It's a Sweet Sixteen gift, we get to take a limo into the city. Whoop Whoop! I'm also going to stage dooring as I always do when I go see a Broadway show. So I am really psyched about meeting Orfeh because she is my absolute favorite Broadway performer - well her and Kristin Chenoweth So my friends and I are making shirt when we go, I suggested making sweatshirts that spelled out Elle Woods like they do in the show but we didn't have enough people who wanted to do it. So instead I suggested we make team shirts. So I'm Team Paulette and I'm putting a lyric on the back probably "I need to go get my ashma spray, watch me while I walk away." Which is from Bend and Snap. Or a lyrics from Ireland. My friends are doing Team Emmett or Team Brooke or Team Margot and blah blah blah. I can't wait. We are going to take pictures and videos so I will show you guys! Quote
celbabs Posted March 20, 2008 at 05:37 PM Posted March 20, 2008 at 05:37 PM I'm going on the 12th as well! That's my bday. Don't know if I'm going to the matinee or the evening though cause, as I said above, my bf got the tickets. Which one are you going to? Quote
